    My first custom build involved a custom loop. Jay's videos helped convince me to make the jump. I'm running an XSPC 240mm kit with a pump/res combo. Soon, I will add a 120mm rad for extra cooling. I'm also looking to do custom sleeving and possibly sell my two R9 270Xs and get the new Fury X replacement, when it is released. I will probably add it to the custom loop with an EKWB. Thanks, Jay, for the videos.

    When I was running a CPU only loop, I used a single Alphacool XT45 420 for my 4930K @ 4.5GHz. Even with Prime95 the temp topped out at 70C, and gaming never exceeded 60C. Used Koolance 380i CPU block. Recently expanded the loop to include 2x Gigabyte 970s, so tossed in another Alphacool UT60 360. Just finished plumbing literally 12 hours ago so still leak testing, but can't wait to fire up the thing and see what kinda temps I get.

    No liquid right now but planning next build and I think it will be liquid cooled. Considering the big stacker case so I can put the cooling and power supplies in the bottom and a NAS farm in the top. This will keep all of that type of gear in one place instead of trying to find homes for it else where. Thinking of running three video cards so lots of cooling to keep it all running stable and fast. The other side of this for me it that I will be building a system for my wife as well, it will be the same less the NAS farm. Thanks for the great video.

    I'm using 1200mm radiator capacity in my custom NZXT Switch 810: -XSPC EX480 -XSPC RX360 -XSPC EX240 -XSPC EX120 Neptune 2.0 - NZXT Switch 810 Build Log Part 6 - Completion My Corsair fans all run at 7V and I get an average of 47C on my 3770K @ 4.6GHz and 51C max on my 680 SLI @ 1215core/7204mem. I suggest that if modding is what you like to do and there is space for it in the case, why not. My Dwood pedestal under my 810 case was custom made for 420 rads and I modded it to shove a 480 down there, for example. Thanks for this very useful video Jay. I hope to see this Stacker build soon!!

    What I did learn was that radiators perform better than I thought even without any fans. Pretty cool. Glad you do these kinds of videos. I know it wash t super long or in depth but a couple things I think were worth noting is that the thicker radiators only perform better at higher fan speeds and they actually perform notably worse at low fan speeds. At around 600 RPM or less, a 30mm rad performs better than a 45, 60, or 80mm (especially if you go apples to apples and compare only Alphacool who offers all four sizes) and the 80mm performs the worst at that speed. If I remember correctly, you have to get up above 800-1000rpm before the 60mm thick rad starts to perform better and the 80mm rad doesn't perform better at all until up above 1200 RPM, IIRC, which is pretty fast and loud. The tests I've seen actually never show the 45mm performing better, it just jumps from 30mm being best at low-mid speeds to 60mm being best up in the higher speed range. I'm guessing there's a pretty narrow window around 700 RPM where 45 performs best. My big full tower build has a 280 60mm and 420 45mm and I went with medium and thick rads in that because like a lot of other first time builders, I though thicker would perform better, except I like to run very quiet fans (whole point of water cooling to me) so in my new smaller Caselabs build, I've gone with all 30mm thick rads.

  • @draggboy

    @draggboy

    10 жыл бұрын

    And another thing worth noting is that the width (i.e. when going from 120mm wide rads to 140mm rads) actually does make a good difference. 140 fans usually have less dead space on the radiator, for one thing. But the main thing is that a lot of people have room to fit a wider 140 rad but might not being above to fit a longer, but going with the wider rad can increase the cooling capacity enough to make up the difference versus a narrower 120mm wide rad that is one fan longer than a given 140mm wide rad. For example a triple 140 rad actually has slightly more cooling capacity than a quad 120 and a dual 140 has almost as much cooling capacity as a triple 120. In my full tower build I went with all 140 wide rads so they're only a triple and a dual 140 yet they're equivalent approximately to a quad + triple 120 setup. In my new Caselabs build I'm going for smaller form factor so space is an issue, so I went with two dual rads (one being a 120 and one being a 140), but since one is a dual 140, it's almost like having a triple 120 while it's a good bit shorter than a triple.

  • @Greywolf74
    @Greywolf7410 жыл бұрын

    I also thought about doing the same thing with the stacker back when I was planning my new build but in the end I went with the 900D because I really liked all the space inside of it and since I wanted to put a double loop in mine I wanted to make sure I had the extra space. I love the alphacool rads but I ended up going the XSPC rads because they had them in white in all the sizes I wanted. Alphacool seems to only offer the white rad in a 360. I ended up going with a 480 and 360 rad in the bottom with a 360 rad also in the top all 40mm thick. Complete overkill but this system is all about overkill :) I just hope the XSPC rads are as good as the price tag that was attached to them. They were more than the AC rads

  • @MrOriginalShane

    Jay, Nice video man I think you should take the top off of the stacker and put it on the bottom (If it can be done) and use put one rad on the top and another on the front and use normal acrylic tubing/bent acrylic with different degree compression fittings or do the opposite and keep the top on it and put the rads in there and run the same set up.

    Jay, Thx for all your videos.. I am an oldschool water cooler guy (1999) from back in the days of Danger Den being one of the few companies doing it then and also using Enhiem pond pumps 120V. I have done 3 WC setups in my time .. the last being 8 years ago. Just ordered 700$ worth of WC parts to get me started on my WC setup. Wish me luck.. wish you were here to help! lol I ran out of funds and plan on adding my GTX 980ti into the loop a little later. I'm making sure to setup a drain area so making changes should be easier. My biggest issue now is flushing my new rads without going out and buying pond pumps etc to do it.. budget is spent!

    HI Jay! Thank you for this vid! Your rig look's amazing and the performance too! I've never water cooled before, except for an AIO. But I'm looking to do so for my next rig, after I get all the parts, : ). (half way there with the total cost) I'll probably go with an H100i at first just so I can get any kinks worked out. But after I have a chance I'll go all out! Right now I just can't make up my mind on a case. I'd love to chose a Ethoo Primo case but the blue led's just won't work with my color scheme. So for me that leaves either a 750D or 900D. Right now I'm looking to have a parts list of : I-7 4770k, 16gb DDR3 2400 ram, Maximus VI Hero, Samsung 840 Evo 120gb, WD black 1TB HDD, H100i and corsair command link w/ cooling kit, along w/ a mix of 120 and 140 fans ( I already have all of this listed so far ), Case???, an RM 750 w/ cable kit (red), Nzxt pcb for expanding my usb 2.0 connections, then of course the GTX 780 ti. So I'm looking forward to any video's of cooling in the future. That way I can maybe pick up on anything I could use. Keep up the great work!

    Hay Jay, love your channel, keep up the good work. Just wanted to point out that COPPER ABSOLUTELY does give you better temps! Better than any other metal other than silver. Copper is a fantastic heat conductor. Google it, there are plenty of graphs comparing different metals and their heat dissipating properties. This is important info for people choosing pc watercooling components.

    I like the thicker rads, but I haven't used the 80mm yet. I still have good cooling from old danger den rads on my older system, a QX based rig. They take a ton of heat from a QX kentsville and SLI'd 8800 GTX SC's. 480mm of rad, MCP655 , & a long loop. I still run it from time to time & love the PC. It's always sad to see a water cooling component manufacturer close its doors. Now, I've got the i7-4770k, but I haven't decided on what I want to do for the case. I like that stacker 9XX with the secondary enclosure for the liquid loop or itx capabilities. I do want to build up a case for the build, but the time to weld what I want will take a while... not to mention the sheet metal break & tapping the threads. Just a lot of work. You're definitely headed in the right direction with the channel. Any Titan, Black Editions headed out your way? Very curious to see these daunting GPUs! Wonder if they've added any OpenCL enhancements to benefit those GPU crypto clowns. I hope not, FPGA is going to rip the market to shreds & if Nvidia has a viable GPU for mining... the used market will be crap as no one other than a miner will buy a burned out junker. AMD should prepare for the value drop due to highly overclocked & already on the thermal fringe of silicon degradation in r9 GPUs.

The front fans are 2 80mm, with 2 rear 80mm, 1 top 80mm, and 2 side 80mm that swing out. I would love to liquid cool this thing. My question is where should I install my radiator(s)? One in the back, one in the front, one in the top, some combo of them?

    regarding the stacker, if you have the money, have time and want to sure would be fun to see what you do with it. I'm running swftech h220 (got lucky in that i bought it in the US before the whole shenanigans happened with swiftech), and i was thinking about adding another radiator in addition to the 240 that it comes with, but it would only really be cosmetic, its already quiet as it is.

    I've just got an h110i from corsair. I was trying to stay all air because I didn't trust water in my system, but I really wasn't liking the temps and its hard to keep it quiet and clean with 13 fans running 24/7, so I had to just get over it... I mounted the radiator in the front of my case so at least 50/50 shot that any failure would be away from all components. I do plan on upgrading the fans, the ones that came with it are way too loud compared to my case fans.

    I'm using Thermaltake Dual Pacific RL480 120mm 8 total fans two side by side on top and on each sides along with one front mount Pacific 200mm and 140mm fan RL 360. I never have to turn CPU off and average temps 17-21c. Pretty over kill but so good.

    it will be nice if you can dona video on cases....coz after spending a lot of cash on watercooling parts I realised that i can't install a fan with the radiater because there was no space so if you can do this it will be nice

    Hey Jay. Love the channel. I do have a question and hope you'll find time to respond. I know your rule of thumb when it comes to the size of rads. 240mm per component. I'm planning to upgrade my pc to the i9 9900k and 2080 ti. I do own a TFC 360 monster rad and it does a great job on my oc'ed i7/ 6gb EVGA TINAN. Is the rad up to it with the new set up which I'm obviously planning to OC for best gaming experience or should I add another 360 just to be sure?

    When you use water cooling, should the fans be on the radiator: A: Outside pushing air in to the case B: Outside pulling the air from the case C: Inside pushing air out from the case D: Inside pulling air in to the case? Thank you in advance!

    Can i ask for a simply question ? I using liquid cooler Corsair H110i with 280mm Radiator mount at front of the case because i don't have space to set the radiator at top , it's stuck with my mainboard. So should i take the air into the case through the radiator or pull out ? My case also have 2 slot to mount fans at top ( have dust filter ) and 1 at the back of the case ? What is the air direction of all fans . Thank you !

    I have a fx 6300 cooled by an Antec 620 v4 in a Fractal Design arc midi r2. Under full load the max temp is 47 Celsius at stock, silent as an assassin. My Asus r9 280x with an overclock to 1150 MHz is maxing out at 62 Celsius below 30% fan speed.

    I was just looking for the exact topic , and this really helped. the watercooled components in my build are going to be , 1) 4770k 2) 2 r9 290's. and since it is my first water cooling build i'm getting a xspc EX360 kit and going with another EX240 rad in the front all in a corsair 760t (or hopefully the 780t if it releases by then). I would really love to know you'r thoughts on it. thank you P.s your channel is awesome.

    Jay or anyone 2 months ago I build my first pc with a 6600K and a gtx 1070 in the phanteks eclipse p400 case and now I want to watercool it. I want to go with a 360 mm radiator on the front and a 240mm at the top but I have only 30 mm at the top so I wouldnt havent space for fans. I can also go with a 120 mm at the back but I don't really like the way it looks. so waht should I do go with the 360 only or 240 but without fans or 120?
