ULTIMATE OVERLANDING SETUP | Toyota Landcruiser Prado 90 series

Спорт

We are Cannelle and Julien, french citizens who travelled across Australia in 2019-2020 with our beloved Pipo, a Toyota Landcruiser Prado 90 series (VZJ95 engine)
We added some cool mods and built an entire cabinet ourselves, to make it the perfect 4wd to travel from september 2019 to september 2020 !
TJM bullbar, James Baroud rooftop tent, Waeco fridge, AGM battery, Titan drawers, water tank...we tell you everything about our setup :)

    @@DLightBelgium The rubber materiel we put on top of the plywood prevents all the plastic boxes from moving, even when we had to break hard. Same thing for the water tank, especially since it weights 60kgs when full. The whole thing doesnt move at all !!

    Thanks for the comment mate ! Unfortunately we sold the car about 2 years ago, when we had to come back to France because of covid situation, so I won't be able to give you measurements of the back shelves. What I can tell you is that the water tank position was not very safe as it wasnt strapped to anything. I would change that by using latches and starps to maintain it. We didnt have the occasion to sleep on the inside plateform after we installed it, we sticked to the roof top tent. I can send you more photos of the shelves if you are interested, just write me your email. See ya !

    Brilliant video, Julien. May I ask a question - what if the battery needs to be changed (the one next to the box in the back of the PRADO?). I guess could it be every 3 years? So, technically, if one is traveling with a brand new battery, it should last?

  • @JulienSarton

    @JulienSarton

    2 жыл бұрын

    Hi David ! The auxiliary battery can easily be changed (even if it's super heavy!). The longevity of AGM battery will mainly depends on how you use it : never get lower than 65/70% to make it last the most

    Hi Julien, amazing set-up! Real cool ideas! I've now loads of inspiration for my upcoming J95 custom build. How/where do you store the storage/sleeping platform and how did you build it to take the load e.g. two adults? Would it have been possible to construct the whole set-up to achieve more clearance to the ceiling (more space when sleeping in the car)?

  • @JulienSarton

    @JulienSarton

    3 жыл бұрын

    Hi Jan! Glad you liked our setup :) The sleeping platform is one piece of 15mm plywood + 6 wooden feet to support the weight, really solid for 2 adults. We used to store it on top of the back plateform, where the water tank, table and chairs were stored (the 2 plateform had the same size, we did it on purpose). About the height between the platform and the ceiling, we could have had maybe 10cm more by choosing a smaller fridge, but 40L was the minimum for 2 adults.
