@@markgolson633 actually, its the opposite. vaccines are not the mind killer, not wanting to be vaccinated because of fear is. Why do people fear more the cure than the disease, who's spreading this fear, who's profiting from it? Why shouldn't it end, it should end, now. Covid is controlled and we have vaccines, we control it now, but the fear keeps growing and growing, when will it stops. the disease already subsided. Like, I'm now vaccinated, I will not fear it anymore. Why should I live in fear ? Living is about risks, to have no risk is to be dead. Nothing excuse, it, nothing, no pandemic, no nothing. You accept the risk and life continues. Our society is too weak, it needs renovation.

But people will keep living in fear (because they said). But they can't suppress life forever, people will revolt. Life has to continue, regardless of how many will or has died. Life is much more strong that they even think. This covid is so weak, it can only kill 2% of the humans. In the middle ages, with more diseases, the amount of death was more like 10% and still, it was business as usual, I guess people adapt. But we fear a simple virus, with all the technology and knowledge we have. We are so weak as society. I like to think this was a test from nature. Sure more terrible things are frozen in that ice we are melting. I never feared the virus, I already survived tuberculosis, heck, If I was born a few centuries back, I would be dead, yet, I'm glad we can develop vaccines. I don't fear. I'm hopeful, even thou I lost a friend to the virus, it happens, they didn't take care or had conditions, life is not easy , but I survived it, I had the condition, I took appropriated care, and I had luck. This is part of the life, I can't live in fear forever. People die, we lose, we cry, we get up, and continue living. We don't stay forever on our houses with the fear of the light of the day. Guess what, the flu was killer, it wiped millions of humans, but we, the survivors, don't mind it and get rid of it in one week. The covid will be just like the flu, this delta variant is already weaker, the virus will adapt, and to survive it will need to become less lethal, that's natural. And if it mutates, we develop more vaccines, if we did once, we can do it again. Why do we fear ? I refuse to fear.

And what are we going to do every year now that we have this covid, every season will be new variants. Are we going to be in fear forever ? is that what they want ? Fear is how they control us. This is what Naugh was talking about culture of fear. Its not about anti-vaccines, its the disease of fear, some people fear the virus, some the vaccine, there's fear everywhere without reason. The risk of both the virus and the vaccine is so ridiculously small. I was like, whatever, give me this vaccine, it knocked me down for a day (but it was nothing, I fucking survived TB, I could survive covid, why would I fear the vaccine, which is practically pieces of dead virus). And now I'm fine, Am I free to live or do I still have to serve the fear lords ? fuck them. There should be no fear, don't fear the virus, its a virus, it happens, and don't fear the vaccine, it has some side effects, and a ridiculous small risk, but it does work. But there's vultures (the media) feeding on fear. Are we going to allow them to win, just turn off your television, go outside, don't fear, see the grass, keep the stupid protocols if they make you feel better (I personally don't care, its all for show and politics, what works is vaccines, not masks and bullshit) , but you will see how the world is not that bad.

Funny how the Emperor's fear of getting dethroned led to him taking action that would eventually lead to his loss of the throne by an Atreides for the very actions he had done in his attempt to remove the Atreides. A literal self-fulfilling prophecy, so to speak. Hell, the Atreides were some of the most loyal of houses, yet paranoia on the emperor's side and a sense of weakening in power led him to take the one step that he should have not.

The Emperor also sped up the process by a number of decades or centuries. If Atreides were gaining favor as strong and honorable people they would have slowly, honorably, taken more power through politics. But the Emperor chose a slimy, backhanded method of betrayal and violence which ended up being a catalyst.

One thing no one ever seems to contemplate or realize... Dune is one of the super rare space opera sci-fi novels in which there are no alien life involved. It's 100% human nature.

Dune is more relevant today than the time when it was written, and will continue to be so in the future, a truly timeless masterpiece. Dune is a must read for any nerd on earth, its the template for many SF and fantasy setting that came after, its influences found ways to works of fame, of niche, and even to those producer whom never heard of it, for it is the golden path.

She may have been ok letting the empirium nearly destroy if she knew the Bene Gesserit would play a role in rebuilding. But if she saw what lettin Paul stay on Arrakis did to the order she’d never have let him leave that room alive.

I watched part one last night. Today I went to my university classes and could not wait for bedtime tonight for me to watch part II. Here I am about to embark on a 1hr 13 min adventure. Thank you.

I'm in shock at how well you narrated Duke Leto's last moments. Your voice really captured all of the finality that I felt reading that part of the book, how even in his dying moments the Duke felt joy when he remembered his son and the beauty of nature he had witnessed on Arrakis.

It's funny how people don't get how much it affected the Star Wars universe when I was a kid in High School the ones who knew had their noses in these books and sort of shunned us who were just Star Wars aficionados at the time. It was just after Return of the Jedi had just come out and it was still a big influence on us. But as I got older I read the books and was illuminated with what I've always wondered if my assumptions about this world was correct. I love the fact that in the Flash Gordon movie that came out with Queen doing the music for there are a few lines that were written by Frank Herbert I knew exactly which ones they were when I read about this in a book about Dune and Mr. Herbert. Thank you for helping people like me.

Same here..searching GOT..then got dune.. Very interesting. Still watching for 4straight hrs.

This makes me realize that Lynch's movie was actually pretty close story and plot wise. The only thing that still gets me, and I have read the book, is all the little esoterica that he put in the movie. I'm thinking specifically about all the weird stuff around the Harkonnens like the "heart plugs" and that thing Rabban crushes and drinks.

As a fan of Dune for over 30 years, I was riveted to this outstanding documentary video. I consider this work to be of the highest quality, I fully expect to be driven to add this work to my almost yearly compilation to watch Dune. And look forward to more from this channel.

I found your channel about 10-12 days ago and enjoyed your postings about the Dune books so much I dug out my old paperback copies of Dune, Messiah and Children. I bought these 35 + years ago and I'm amazed I still have them. I've read 137 pages since yesterday, such a great novel. I saw my copy of God Emperor, but fear Heretics and Chapterhouse are lost to the sands of time. Can't thank you enough for inspiring me to reread this series another time.

I cannot praise you enough for your excellent insightful commentary on the Dune series. You raise points that were overlooked in my earlier readings and you do so in a very casual relaxed manner, like a conversation in a quiet dinner place after seeing a Dune movie that accurately reflected the books. Thank you, you have re-inspired me to once again return to those wonderful books and re-read them. Like Tolkien, Frank Herbert brings depth and personality to an epic tale and moral play. I am glad people such as yourself populate youtube, you provide an incredible value to the system. I sincerely hope others look at what you have done here and perhaps embrace their own genre’s in a similar way. Great analysis, great narrative. Again thanks

Well that was absolutely spectacular. It was a couple of decades ago that I read the first five books, then saw the miniseries (which ends on Children Of Dune) a decade ago, and now here I am, thoroughly compelled yet again, thanks to the impressively talented, skilled and passionate vessel for this story that is the author of this KZread channel. Just one observation: the parallels to The Decline And Fall Of The Roman Empire was tackled first in science fiction by another grand, epic masterwork - Foundation, by my main man Isaac Asimov.

September 9, 2021. I came across this channel to refresh before the movie came out in October. If you want to put everything Dune into perspective, I would highly recommend watching all of Quinn’s videos. I thought adding Frank Herbert’s commentary on the novels at the end was a great idea Quinn. Excellent channel! Thanks for the hard work.

Loving you're analysis. I was given Dune in 1981 and it's the most brilliant series. I regularly reread them and always find new ideas and themes..

I've never really understood the correlation, but Landsraad (Landsråd) means "national council" in Norwegian. I love this video series - I've been meaning to reread the books for some 15 years or so, but haven't got around to it. Watching these videos is a good substitute. Liked and subscribed and all that.

Okay...I did not begin this video with intention of watching the entirety; however... It was fantastic! And I enjoyed every last second! Now excuse me while I dust off my copy of Dune...it is time to, again, for it and I reacquaint ourselves :-)

By far, one of the best channels of KZread. I am getting your graphic novel. You work hard and it comes from the heart. You diserve continued success! Also, your story about the guy with the gun that said "ohhh, you're with them" stays with me to this day.

It wasn't just Atreides' army that was a threat to the emperor, Duke Leto was also Shaddam's cousin, so their was a potential blood claim on the throne.

And Leto was well respected and admired by most of the other houses. Even the Emperor himself admired his qualities as a leader.

It's been over 20 years since I read Dune, and having come from David Lynch's version my understanding of the scope of the novel was more limited. I think I will have to revisit it and the remaining books because your analysis is really doing the saga justice!
