Before I start building cabinets for the custom basement bar, I need a workshop! The time came to finally clean out the garage and give it a makeover. In Part 2 of this series, I complete the renovation! I put in a new epoxy floor, install a Rogue squat rack, install tool box cabinets and garage storage, organize the garage, and install new lights. I also make some exterior upgrades as well including new exterior lights, new address numbers, new garage door, and a brand new driveway! I packed a lot in this episode and hope you enjoy the content! Let me know what you think!
Thank you for watching and hopefully you found the video helpful!

TIP for the light... if you leave an extra nut on the screw and then cut the screw to size, you can back the nut off and it will remove the burrs and keep the thread where it needs to be.

I have the same branded set, different components in the kit. They are really nice addition to the garage. I bought them pre Covid, and back then the price was a steal on a sale through Hone Depot. Recently I wanted to add another single piece to my garage and couldn’t believe that the price nearly doubled from what I paid two years ago.

Nice work
Careful. I broke my garage floor… even though I had gym flooring (thick rubber mats) and bumper plates. And my bumper plates were the really thick ones, I think that’s the rogue competition set which is thinner (less surface area means more damage it can do). It first started cracking then where I would always deadlift it dug a hole. I never noticed because it was covered by the mats. I didn’t notice until I walked over it and it felt dug out. In hindsight, I would use rubber mats and a layer of thick plywood (1 3/4) on top of the mat.
Looks amazing

Superb renovation! What sheen of paint (I tried to make out the cans, is it Benjamin Moore?) did you use on the walls? Do you still recommend that Graco Magnum X5 sprayer in terms of its ease of use and clean up? Did you spray the ceiling and the wall and if so, in what order and how to prevent overspray? Finally, if you had to do it all over again would you still paint the walls first before having the floor epoxied or do it the reverse order? I am greatly curious to know if the epoxying job makes a dusty mess all over the nice fresh walls. About to embark on a very similar journey in my garage, thanks!!
Great job

High quality linesman pliers or wire cutters will have a cutter for trimming long electrical screws. I use knipex 13 72 8 wire stripper, no need to bring out the grinder. Great transformation! Mind if I ask how much the professional floor coating cost? I would also like to do that

Good tip on the pliers! I always forget about that function. And thank you! The epoxy floor cost about $3k give or take. I think it’s well worth it and I would steer clear of the diy kits as they tend not to have the same durability

Before i Cut a screw or bolt down i thread a nut on past the point of the cut, then after i cut i remove the nut and the nut natrually folds the burr down and then you dont need to worry about it.

I was driving myself crazy because I couldn't find anyone who hung the cabinets how I imagined. So, I just received my husky cabinet set (same as yours, regular duty welded) and I really wanted to hang them off the floor because I have the same protruding stem wall. How are they holding up, do you store anything heavy in them? Did you hit two studs in each cabinet on top or only one? Did you also secure on the bottom or just resting on the cement? Hoping to install mine this week, thank you!

@GoldenKeyDesign
Жыл бұрын
They are holding up great! All the cabinets are full but I don't put anything extremely heaving in them. I made sure to hit 2 studs per cabinet. 1 stud would probably worry me a bit. There are no holes to screw them in at the bottom so they are just resting on the concrete, but it hasn't been an issue. Worst case scenario, you can add feet to front. hope that helps!
Would of updated the center light on the second floor to match the two next to the garage. It looks great. Congratulations 🎉
@GoldenKeyDesign

Thank you and good eye! We do plan to update that as well, just didn’t have time to fit in this video
Regarding the tall husky cabinet’s, did you get lucky and where able to screw them center to a stud? And did you use the prefixed holes or cut your own through the back of the cabinet?
@GoldenKeyDesign

I was lucky enough to hit 2 studs per cabinet and I just used the predrilled holes in the cabinet. So far, they have been holding up great. Hope that helps!

Next time the circle on your wire strippers that have numbers where is that connection point is you can thread the screw into the air and then cut off was not needed some thing you don’t have to re-grind it to make sure it’s stays threaded true

Love the transformation, though I do prefer the old colour of the house, I think I'm just over seeing grey and black houses.... But don't mind me lol. Definitely love the driveway, do you think that will last longer than concrete? (Before any cracks start to show etc) 😊❤
@GoldenKeyDesign
Жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching! I also wanted a bit more color in the house but my parents preferred the grey and white look. If it’s taken care of properly I think the driveway will last a long time but not sure if it would outlast concrete
Not sure if someone has asked this yet, but how’s the “cleanliness” level on the gym side when you’re using the workshop side and you’re cutting wood & stuff. Does it get all over the gym side? I’m thinking of doing this and I do a lot of wood projects but just not sure if wood shavings would get all over the equipment
@GoldenKeyDesign

If you plan to cut wood inside the garage, you will probably need to hook dust collection. I mainly use the garage to store my tools and use the workbench on occasion. But I cut the majority of my wood in the driveway
