They’re soooo good!
Looks great! ❤️ Huh! Cornstarch for velveting meat-coating for browning, yes. I’ve only heard of using baking soda for velveting chicken & beef. Sprinkle, let stand 30ish min, rinse, & pat dry.

Great comment! Yes, there’s a few ways to velvet and this one uses the egg white method.

Baking soda tenderizes the beef and cornstarch velvets it.

@@richardbailey4593According to Wiki, Masterclass, etc. they both are ways of velveting meet.
I've had store bough steak fries before but never homemade. The store bought ones were if you'll pardon the pun. A bit of a mixed bag. Some were good some were chewy and nasty. Mostly stuff others have had as appetizers or game day snacks. So I never bought them but this I may try. It looks easy and I may throw a little twist in to the coating to make them more like my homemade chicken fried steak crust. 👍

These are really tender due to the velveting technique used but please let us know how they turn out for you!

@@Redmeatlover Turned out great made them for dinner last night. Added a little ground red pepper into the dreg as I was out of paprika and a tsp of my local grocers homemade steak seasoning that is mostly a little extra garlic a little extra salt and a few other seasonings I don't remember off the top of my head. Air fried some store bought french fries and cooked up some greens to go with it. All in all a fun little Monday night meal! ate half the steak fries and saved the leftovers for a nice lunch today. Thanks!
