Quick question why is it timed
@PowerStrokeTechTalkwARod
Жыл бұрын
Noise nvh
@Ian_SS
Жыл бұрын
During the DCR validation testing for 2011-2019 model years, S&S did not find a benefit to timing the DCR pump to the engine. However, for 2020+ model years there is a small NVH benefit to timing the pump specifically when the ECM commands a certain rail pressure control mode at light engine load. For this reason and to retain product commonality across the model years, S&S recommends to time the DCR on all model years according to the S&S installation instructions. A future change to the DCR pump in Q4 2023 will add a roll pin to the pump shaft at which point the timing process will match the OEM Ford CP4 timing procedure for all model years.

Oh ok I see so same reason you would clock a cp3 on a Cummins is some sorta noise
@JaegerWrenching
Жыл бұрын
The CP4 is originally timed to match the one of the two pumping heads to feed the rail/bank of cylinders that is currently firing. By timing them together it helps increase peak pressure, and keeps fuel flowing into the bank/fuel rail where it is needed most. A natural byproduct of doing this is less noise and vibration. This is because it's pumping fuel through an open door instead of a closed door. I'm assuming it also helps the injectors rate shape stay a little more consistent as well, but I am no fuel systems engineer or expert by any means...
For anyone who has this truck and is going to self install. Please send this man a donation. I am a former tech who went i to the insurance business and I can tell you this guy is awesome on these fords.
As a mechanic that does install aftermarket things once in a while...full colour instructions with clear text as to what you have to do is vitally important. The little things that make the job go so much easier.
Master level install, nice job man. That is a nice kit, well thought out with instruction detail.

That’s one well designed and thought out pump system, nicely done Sir 👍😁

Wow that was a great video ARod, thanks for sharing you make it look so easy. Thank you
The LAST minute of this video is what I live for as a mechanic. You do a TON of work to a customer’s vehicle and when it comes to life AND doesn’t leak, it’s a great sense of accomplishment and reward for a lot of good attention to detail!
Awesome install. Super factory looking. Definitely a game changer
Awesome video! Can’t wait to have you install mine brother!
good stuff, glad there is an option for 6.7 guys
Beautiful work! Kudos on doing the full install video. I'm sure it will help many people down the road. I just hope that Ford can get on the same page and eventually offer something like this from the factory.
Love these SnSDiesel cp3 conversions! Done 2 this last year on customer trucks after cp4 disasters.
I don't know a lot about trucks but this video was fascinating. Thanks Arod
You’re smarter than a fricking brain surgeon! I’m impressed. I have a 7.3 Godzilla and still watched this whole video. The Godzilla meets my needs, and with me only having basic skills (oil changes, brakes) I’m kind of glad I don’t have the diesel. I’m sure this wasn’t cheap. Good work bro!

Good to see the real fix for the CP4 is out! Way to go S&S. I must be old school because I don't ever reuse gaskets, o-rings etc.
Great detailed how to video as always! Installed the DCR on my 2018 F250 this weekend in my driveway. Having watched your video along with the detailed instructions from S&S made the job go smooth. About 300 miles on the new install and truck is running great. (FWIW…I opted to leave the clutch fan and bracket assembled and just removed the 5 bolts of the fan bracket to access the vacuum pump)

Hey Aaron, I can tell you from experience that the blue loctite “GEL” is so so much better and easier to use. It stays where you put it and doesn’t make a mess that you have to clean. I build and repair firearms and loctite is always a MUST use item, before I found the gel it was ALWAYS messy pain in the tookus. Just thought I would give you another tool to place in your mental toolbox brother !

I highly recommend this and or the disaster kit. I bought a used 2017 F250 and about a month in experienced issues, and after dropping it off the $12k bill to replace the entire fuel system wasn't enjoyable. So whatever you do spend the $650 on the disaster kit its better then thousands.

Just finished my installation. Took a bit longer than I expected because I cleaned all the parts . My upper and lower intakes were full of nasty dark soot. Also replaced the thermostate and a new drive belt since I had it all open. The return line seamed very hard to get on, I took the 8mm bolt on the valvecover and was able to get the line on and connected. Then put the 8mm bolt back on. Truck firred on first try. Decided to go with Ortiz for my triple pod (with the speaker supported). Have talked to a few people that got dual and triple pillar mounts and most were not that happy with the plastic build quality. Ortiz takes a factory Ford pillar, takes them apart, and builds their triple gauge pillar mounts around the OEM pillar. A bit pricy but I only want to do this once with a quality pillar set-up. Found the Banks dual suction cup started coming apart on the windshield rubber after heat buildup. Last week was 2nd time I have had to superglue it in the 18 months I have had the Banks windshield mount. Do I really need the 2nd Supergauge with the the super and data monster I have… eh likely not but I am a data junky with my SD and there are a couple of additional items I would like to keep an eye on.
