Ukrainian Army Uses New Caesar Long-Range Howitzer Supplied By France

A Ukrainian artillery unit in the Donbas region uses the latest long-range artillery import, the French Caesar howitzer. The self-propelled 155mm gun can hit targets up to 38 kilometers away and is highly mobile. One soldier told RFE/RL on June 8 that the system was easy to use.

@@heybabycometobutthead Reeeeally hope he doesn’t. This is a good piece of kit for Ukraine so we need to make sure macron doesn’t try and be a coward and make this a one off deal. Ukraine needs many many many more of these along with more than enough ammunition to actually keep them running. If France and neighbouring countries aren’t going to actually get involved in the conflict, which they should, then they might as well give Ukraine all of it as we are the nations that can always make more of it, while Ukraine right now cannot.

The computer is incredible if you know how to operate it with multiple guns. Put it to good use ,i hope these guns will serve you well. And it is excellent for an artillery crew to be named Roman and operate the Caesar. (My name is Roman too...)

Not a single Ukranian soldier was born in the Donbass. All of the soldiers born in the Donbass fight for the Russian side. Who's invading who? The Donbass is a territory that has been historically Russian and its inhabited by Russian speaking people. It was transferred from Russia to the Ukraine in 1954 by Nikita Kruschev. You'll not find a single writer or poet born in that region that wrote in Ukranian and spoke of the Ukraine as his/her motherland.

For those who are interested in : The Caesar gun is not named in the strong memory of the Roman Empire emperor but named as abbreviation in french language as CAmion Equipé d’un Système d’Artillerie (CAESAr) which means truck equipped by an artillery system which is far less historically romantic and way more pragmatic.

We operated/fired from the Mechanized M109A 155mm self-propelled howitzer system, which is currently the standard equipment in today's Army, except now they call them PALADINS, because each single howitzer has their own GPS - Gyro navigation system, so each howitzer can shoot individually or as a group, all firing at the same time for maximum effect, on time, on target. But I only got to load and fire during cross training sessions because the two jobs were split back then, because each howitzer didn't yet have their own GPS. Back then, our firing position was determined by a single Gyro navigation system, and each howitzer had to be surveyed and sited in, usually by our platoon sergeant(Smoke), who conducted the surveying/laying process. Once our firing position was accurately determined, we were ready to finalize meteorological data(current weather patterns), check and verify safety, and receive fire missions. Shooting fire missions was fun, but all the other aches and pains of training for realistic battle was not very fun, but they trained us as close as you can get to reality without actually killing anyone. I was in during Desert Shield/Desert Storm, but the first Iraq War only lasted a very short number of days, and a ceasefire was called, and our unit never got deployed. I believe America was justified in kicking Iraq back out of Kuwait, but they lied to us about the 2nd Iraq war, of which I was already out of military service and not a part of. Anyways. a big thank you to the country of France for sending these amazing howitzers to Ukraine, which will help them defend and take back their country and remain a sovereign nation.

I was thrilled when our government sent almost 100 M777's to the Ukrainians, but from the beginning I felt like Ukraine would've been better served with SELF-PROPELLED artillery like these Caesars or American M109 Paladins. The type of war these guys are now fighting isn't one where you can just park a battery of M777s in one spot like we did in Afghanistan and sit there for days or weeks or even months and keep firing while never worrying about getting hit back. We've already seen one Russian attack on M777s where they dropped a munition from a drone. Thankfully for Ukraine, the Russians are total incompetents and instead of calling in an airstrike or an artillery strike or even an MLRS strike on the M777s, they instead dropped what was basically ONE HAND GRENADE on the Ukrainians and it landed like 20 feet away from everybody. I have no doubt that shrapnel hit at least one M777, and it obviously COULD HAVE caused some damage. But it appears that the Ukrainians were able to pack up and leave before the Russians could launch a more devastating attack. But that just highlights my point. I'm sure the Ukrainians are extremely grateful to have over 100 M777s, but I think they would be BETTER SERVED with more Caesars or Paladins or whatever type of self-propelled 155mm artillery "the West" is willing to send, even if those platforms have a shorter firing range than the M777s. The Ukrainians need to be able to "shoot and scoot" because their supply of NATO artillery is far, FAR lower than the endless supply of Soviet junk that the Russians have. And just like we saw in WW2 with things like the Sherman vs Tigers or Panthers, sometimes having far more of an inferior weapons system is better than having just a few examples of a far superior system. The Ukrainians need about FIVE HUNDRED M109 Paladins/Caesars/etc. to really take the fight to the invading orcs.

Towed howitzers doesn’t mean they can’t be moved.. 😉 When i served we where drilled to be as fast in and out of position as possible. At that time we didn’t really have anything but towed howitzers either. Anyway it’s a big part of to be successful. The adversary that was foreseen is the same Ukraine has to deal with now..☹️ The m777 is a really lightweight howitzer that in it self should promote the ease of handling in comparison to many other howitzers of the same caliber. Ukraine would probably need at least 500 towed and at least 100 self propelled 155mm to make a difference. There’s still a lot do to get there..

This maneuver of: arriving in the area, firing and leaving, all in less than 3 minutes, is the operating mode of the CAESARs, learned from the French military artillerymen. Already practiced in Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria and Mali by the French with success against unconventional forces. This demonstrates that the CAESAR is one of the fastest, most accurate and efficient Howitzers in the world, in addition to being fully connected since the firing data arrives on the CAESAR computer EVEN BEFORE it gets into firing position. Thus the CAESAR is therefore very difficult to locate and therefore destroy during an enemy counter-battery maneuver. Even though the CAESAR has already destroyed 6 targets in just 1 minute. If the Ukrainians had 50 CAESARs and the BONUS shells the Russians would be forced to evacuate their positions, for lack of support. Bon courage à nos amis russes qui vont connaître la reine des batailles selon Napoléon.

Russia took the bait and by invading the Ukraine it became a Rogue State. Bye Putin! Also the US became the Gas supplier of Europe and is making a lot of money selling weapons to Europe. And the most important thing is that from now on, no European country will dare to contradict us as Germany and France did in the past. All of this without shooting a single bullet. "If" Putin starts WW3... it will end *VERY BADLY FOR HIM !!!* Here's Why>>> Russia has USA on Alert... these are sitting close to Russia and very very ready>>> For you folks interested in USA nuclear capabilities, this is a pretty detailed and fascinating look at U.S. modern Navy. *And how many subs would it take to eliminate all the hostile territories in the Middle East or Russia ? Just 1!* The U.S. Navy has 18 of the most deadly and feared weapons ever created. Meet the Ohio-class submarine. In naval terms, it makes up the Fleet Ballistic Missile subs (FBMs). These 18 weapons are also known as "Trident" subs because they're a part of America 's "Nuclear Triad". The Ohio-class along w/our Navy's smaller attack subs are nearly impossible for our adversaries to locate. But they know 1 thing... 18 Ohio-class subs are lurking somewhere around the world. For defensive/offensive attack abilities against other subs, all 18 have 4 533mm Mark 48 torpedo tubes. Depending on depth of launch, they travel at speeds up to 63 mph and detonate using a proximity fuse (when the torpedo senses the opponent's sub/ship). 14 of these subs are ballistic missile submarines (SSBN). And 4 have been converted to guided missile submarines (SSGN). The 8 oldest of 14 SSBN carry the following nuclear armament: 24 Trident I/C4 missiles that cover a range of 4,600 miles. What can they launch? For reference, a kiloton (kt.) = 220,462,262 lbs. A single kt. is over 220.4 million pounds. Each missile has Multiple Independently targetable Reentry Vehicle (MIRV). MIRVs are capable of being aimed at hitting multiple different targets with nuclear warheads. A single missile carries 8 thermonuclear warheads that can break-off to hit up to 8 targets with 100 kilotons of TNT (total of 800 kt. of TNT). For perspective, “Fat Man”-the largest of the 2 nukes dropped to end WWII had a total of 21kt of TNT. The 10 newer SSBNs armament: 24 Trident II/C5 missiles that cover a range of 7,000 mi. Each Trident II SLBM missile can carry 12 MIRV thermonuclear warheads...these can hit 12 targets w/up to 475 kt. of TNT (total of 5,700 kt. of TNT). A single missile from these 10 Ohio-class subs: equal to 1,256,634,893,400 pounds of TNT as in -1 trillion 2 hundred 56 million plus lbs. of BOOM. Upgraded 4 SSGN Guided Missile subs armament: 22 tubes w/7 Tomahawk Cruise Missiles (total 154). Tomahawks are versatile. They can be equipped with thermonuclear warheads. In addition, the SSGNs can be used to deliver many other specialized weapons such as Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs)... and more... US Air Force/Space Force have their play too, definitely standing ready... Thought You Might Like This Info 💀🌹
