Adding to Alex's assessment towards the end, re: The US being able to "come out on top" should there be another global military struggle/conflict (I prefer to not call the "next one" the "Third", as we have been in the "Third" since the end of the second one) The US ruling class has absolutely screwed itself, in that it has worked SO HARD to divide and pacify the masses in the past 40 years, that should it decide to commit to a full on assault on any country on the planet, NOW, the US itself will likely plunge into a civil war of sorts, with no one here, at first, not knowing what to make of increase in violent attacks INSIDE the country, which the ruling class will NO DOUBT institute, in order to justify much stronger clamp-downs on dissent. Leading to many with access to weaponry to commandeer it (the military actually seeing mutinies and the like)

The working class/"resisters"/anarchists/anti-fash et al (those not fully bought into the RW propaganda here) gaining inspiration seeing other Western states falling into the same or similar situations.
