God, Marxism, and the Fall of the West | Ayaan Hirsi Ali | EP 457

Dr. Jordan B. Peterson sits down with author and activist Ayaan Hirsi Ali. They discuss the subversion of the West, how the pursuit of truth has become the ownership of it, the corruptive nature of the oppressor/oppressed power narrative, the importance of Christian ideals, and why a push for restoration is more necessary than ever before.
Ayaan Hirsi Ali is a Fellow at the Hoover Institute at Stanford University, a Senior Fellow with the Future of Diplomacy Project at the Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs at The Harvard Kennedy School, a member of the Council on Foreign Relations, and the bestselling author of “Infidel” (2007) and “Heretic: Why Islam Needs a Reformation Now” (2015). Born in Mogadishu, Somalia, Hirsi Ali strove to live as a devout Muslim during her early life, but in 1992, fled to the Netherlands to escape a forced marriage. She became a citizen and went on to study at the University of Leiden. From 2003 to 2006, Hirsi Ali served as an elected member of the Dutch parliament and then moved to the U.S., where she founded the AHA Foundation to protect and defend the rights of women from harmful traditional practices. In 2024, Hirsi Ali founded Restorationbulletin.com, where she explores the forces of subversion plaguing Western society.

@@JenkinsPsych Joe encourages people to use drugs, for one. If we're comparing subtly destructive cultural fads, the one with the highest objective bodycount is drug use (100k+ per year.) He's also irrationally hostile to Christian teachings. The only time I've ever seen him get actively angry, was when he was talking with Matt Walsh about the Christian definition of marriage. Joe's certainly not "open to dialog" about that. So you have Joe advocating not only for death (drugs) but celebrating sterility as well. You could argue that despite these failings he's still a net positive, sure. But you could easily imaging a Joe _without_ those failings, and they are very serious failings.

I just came back from swimming with my kids, getting ice cream with them, shopping for swim suits, and getting caught in a rain storm. In short, having a great day with my kids. And I come back to find this and my heart is just a bit too full for words yet. Dearest Dr. Peterson, I was thinking how many years you admired and venerated Ayaan and wanted to speak with her and how you finally did when you were just getting a bit of health and strength back, and how talking to her strengthened you. And now it’s so much to take in that you got to speak with her again, after her conversion. I’ll be listening tonight after the tired and waterlogged kids are in bed. Will share thoughts then. But for now, I just wanted to leave the most enormous cherishing hugs for both Dr. Peterson and Ayaan. May God grant that I can give you both those in person one day. With love from Ruth Anne, Rainy Day Person ❤

Dude, it's all about the money. Nurses & Doctors loved COVID because they were paid 2x-4x the hourly rate. A lot of people loved it, because they didn't/don't have to go to work & save thousands of dollars. On the opposite side, you have people who were fired & businesses have been closed. My sister saved thousands every month working remotely. My dad has $60,000 credit card debt. The same with everything. When you wouldn't be able to afford time with your kids, & will have to work nights/weekends delivering Uber Eats, then you will really understand.

I was at the debate between Ayaan and Dawkins. I was stunned at how sophomoric his case for atheism was conveyed. His argument was essentially that you can’t believe in God and also be a seeker of truth. This is categorically false. You can’t prove there isn’t a God as much as you can’t prove there is. If Dawkins was actually in search for truth, he would be willing to accept that in this case, there is no “truth”. You guys are amazing. Thank you for your sanity. It makes me feel so much less alone.

People who believe in a God can't even answer the primary and logical questions about God: Where is God? Why does he have magical abilities? If he's so powerful, why doesn't he use his powers to stop misery? Why do you think God talks to you? Why do you think God listens to you? As a lapsed Catholic, I know how Christians answer these questions, but the answers are excuses with no verified proof. Since man began, he made up various Gods to help him cope with life. This, to me, is the only valid reason to believe in God.

I’ve been thinking about a line from Madeleine L’Engle’s novel “The Arm of the Starfish” which, if applied, would completely shatter the victim/victimizer narrative to smithereens. “If you are going to care about the fall of the sparrow, you don’t get to decide who the sparrow is.” I think that is worth an essay and it’s been teasing my mind for months needing to get itself properly argued out and set down on paper. It came to me as I was listening.

If I may, I recommend sitting down with a pencil and paper and writing out a persuasive essay. For those who may not be familiar, the simplest process begins with a brainstorming map. On the left, draw a large circle with the main point written within it. In the middle, draw 3 circles, aligned vertically, and write 3 points which, together, encapsulate the entirety of the main point. To the right of each circle, draw 3 horizontal lines, and upon them, write 3 examples or arguments which support each of their respective points. Once you've nailed those down, write each of the 3 central arguments out in paragraph form, exploring all of the supporting information you've chosen to present. Once that's done, arange all 3 paragraphs in a comprehensive order, then rewrite them as many times as you need to, in order to present them in the most succinct and convincing way you are able. You can then write an interesting and compelling introductory paragraph, which presents the main theme and touches on the main points. Finally, write a summarization of the other 4 paragraphs which reiterates and emphasizes the conclusion to which you would like the reader to come. I would very much like to read such an essay, with that sparrow analogy as its central theme. I'm curious to see what that would look like.

I have just finished the Daily Wire section, and it was excellent, as always. Ayaan has that look. That glow. That light in her eyes. I know that look. I’ve been watching it on many faces for many years. Her conversion is a true inner transformation. It’s a bone-deep knowing that whatever happens to the West, whatever happens to our earthly bodies, whatever happens to everyone we love, that “all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well,” as Julian of Norwich wrote so long ago. I have seen that look on Ayaan’s husband Neill’s face as well; I saw before conversion video and after conversion video and the difference was palpable. It’s a beautiful thing and it is individual to each soul’s journey toward God, Who is Love and Light. And perhaps if Richard Dawkins knew that God is not some fictional Sky Daddy but instead the very source of all love and all light and all goodness and all truth, he might feel very differently about Ayaan’s conviction of soul. And I believe that is what it means to write, and speak, and live for the glory of God. To write and speak and live in such a way that light is shed on the true nature of God, author of love and joy and peace, so that people who have believed lies about God can see Him. And I think that living for the glory of God would save the West and redeem the meaning crisis. With Ruth Anne’s love

I’ve never had so many KZread adds in a single video. That’s when you know the system recognizes you’re saying the truth. They try to distract and annoy to change the thought process.

Agreed. It seems like they've kicked it into overdrive for the past few days.

One trick you can do which almost always works for me, when videos bombard me with ads, is if it looks like crazy ads, when barely getting into the video, drag the cursor and skip ahead playing only the last 30 maybe 60 seconds of the video so that it plays/runs out that last little bit on its own, then click restart on the screen once that pops up, then drag it fast forwarding back where you'd watched up to. A lot of times there will be no ads at all then, BUT they're almost always, at least very greatly reduced in number...maybe one towards the very ending of the video or something.
