US Tainted Cup is hardback only, no dust jacket. It is stunning in person! If there was a DJ I don't think it would be so nice.

Thank you for confirming...sometimes seeing a book in person is so different to how it appears online
What I love about Funny Story is they kept in the guy's yellow crocs for both covers 😂 I need to know if he actually wears them in the book!

I hadn't even noticed that detail! 😂
I really love the US cover for Where the Dark Stands Still. The colors are gorgeous in person. I picked it up on cover alone.

It is a pretty one! A proper cover buy then
Love these videos - how exciting to see this! 😃💜📚
Shakespeare’s Scottish lady is such a dark and iconic character I’m fascinated by how differently the two artists & publishers elected to portray her. The blood tipped hair on the UK cover is compelling but so is the fragility of that white veil against the deep darkness behind her on the US cover. I had a hard time deciding but Goldsboro had signed editions so UK it is for me. As a side note, the US & UK covers for This Motherless Land are very different. I went UK for that as well.

It is such a fascinating and different way they have gone with that cover...I am intrigued how the contents of the book is going to compare to the cover
I do agree with you on importantance of good typography

The US edition of The Tainted Cup doesn't have a dustjacket! Also, the typography makes so much difference, you've mentioned it for the second book, but it's best seen in The Familiar by Leigh Bardugo!

I had not realised that the cover was different for The Familiar! It's so similar but ever so slightly different!
Omg I thought I was the only one who gets dark comedy vibes from that US Lady Macbeth cover lol. And the US version of Where the Dark Stands Still definitely wins for me after reading the book, it is more of a folkloric fantasy with a very tragic and bittersweet love story, I adored it!!

It definitely gives off dark comedy! But I can't imagine the book is that...
Tainted Cup was such a fun read! I'm not a huge fan of bare hardbacks with no dust jacket, so I'd vote the UK > US altho the US cover is maybe more accurate to the vibes... I feel like the book with the biggest difference is Where the Dark Stands Still!

The issue with bare hardbacks is if you get it mucky you can't hide it with the dust jacket.. Where the Dark Stands Still is definitely very different!
Wisteria by Adalyn Grace (releases Aug 2024) has very different covers for US and UK. The UK cover from Waterstones looks so gorgeous

Oohh I've not read any of that series...although it does sound intriguing
Lots of fun aa always - sadly nothing g hits the high of Carrie Soto horror! 3 others for you to look at are Queen B by Juno Dawson, The Ending Fire by Saara El-Arafi and Wisteria by Adelyn Grace None are first in series, but very different covers! And Service Model by Adrian Tchaikovsky 💜📚

@AbbySalter yes not massively different but different enough for me to prefer the UK one 💜📚

Most important: why are american covers rough while UK copies are smooth. I hate the US covers so much that I tear them off! I wrote to HC en SS but got no answer

That's not something I ever registered, I always remove dustjackets before reading though so that when I put it back on the book looks nice and clean on my shelves
