Some people really deserve to be kicked in the crotch a few times. Up north, the kind of thing the van driver did at the end, risks getting him a good kicking!

@@kpopfan674 this is fair. I once reported a private Uber driver for driving on the wrong side of the road into oncoming traffic and then doing what can only be described as a handbrake turn and continuing down another junction over the 30mph speed limit again on wrong side of the road. The police said they had closed the case but didn’t even ask for the footage or any identifying information 😑

6:00 The problem is to do with the poor layout on Greenford roundabout. All three lanes going round it are marked the same. First, left/straight on, second straight on/right, and third right only. But the lanes feeding for entering the roundabout are marked first left/straight on, second straight on, third straight on. Which means if you're turning right, and are in the third outside lane (feeder lane is marked straight on), you are now in the lane marked right only. Which means after one's second exit, a far right vehicle has to get into at least the middle lane for their approaching exit (otherwise they'll be in a perpetual right only lane, and have to go round again). At 6:20 the merc should have been in the first left (on their left/ onside) not the middle lane which they were pushing into. Both the cam car and the lorry were following the correct line through the roundabout because they were in the outer right hand lane. Google streetview is very clear. Poor road design must make this roundabout hell during busy times.

There's a driving instructor video on YT where she tells her pupil to take the path the Merc took, no wonder people drive badly around there. There is a rather expensive solution, remove the road paint and use smart LED road studs like on Switch Island, there are two sets of lanes and they light up depending on which traffic light is green.

Now. I was going to have a pop at the cammer and truck driver. But now I have the full context of what's going on. it's clearly a road marking issue . Clip 1 I’ve been that truck so many times, delivering to houses down tiny lanes, praying there’s a way out as your eyes are peeled looking for a damn house with only a name. Or Road Sweeping during road surface dressing. Looks to me that this truck is trying to deliver fuel oil to a remote house, they’ll have no wish to be there and would be begging not to see another vehicle and longing for a bigger road. When it’s that tight that you cannot see your mirrors it’s the last place you’d choose to be. That truck is there because some git needs it there (or thereabouts).

  • @jeremypnet

@@jeremypnet a smaller truck would require wider mirrors and wouldn’t be able to carry the weight so no width reduction if you include the mirror width, additionally tankers are inherently unstable, even with baffles in the tank to reduce sloshing that’s why the tanks for liquids are oval rather than round in order to lower the centre of gravity. A smaller truck would be more unstable especially if it was narrower. Unfortunately the design we have now is about as far as we go, unless you have an idea up your sleeve.

@@davidspear9790 as said to another commentator on this thread, you (as a LGV driver) get sent where you get sent, it’s usually down to the scheduler. I can state that as a rigid (class 2 driver) I have driven a left hand drive road sweeper and a 7.5 tonne gritter rhd for the same road surface dressing company and literally the 7.5 tonne has had mirrors which stick out by 12” each, adding 2 feet width to the vehicle and I’d rather drive the sweeper because the 7.5 ton gritter is wider than the 15 ton sweeper and the sweeper is easier to judge when passing. Yes there are even pick-up size oil delivery vehicles available but no one is going to multi drop to the same location it’s not cost effective. I can also tell you I’ve driven 26 ton trucks and been scheduled to 7.5 limit premises, to places where the height restriction matches my vehicle height, to places stating 7.5 ton or less and to places with width restrictions. You just have to do what is required. I’ve even walked a bathroom suite 1.5 miles to a customer’s house and obviously had to walk back again. The delivery must get through and I’ll be damned if some hardship will stop me, imagine if it was you and I just gave up because some bush got in the way. Perhaps you should realise that drivers do their utmost to bring items to your home or stock to the shelves. Unless it’s impossible you’ll get it. That’s the facts.

Those roads are usually only known and used by locals, and they just take such events as a normal part of the day; no offence intended or taken. I did looking back they were both in the straight on lanes but for some reason the cammer wasn’t able to move into it pulling into the roundabout and was in the right turn lane. I think the merc should of moved over and the. The cammer and lorry would of been in the left lane of straight on and mer should of been in right lane of straight on.

Make it a point to practice your driving shortcomings, it will absolutely pay off.
