Nah if you’re talking single track country lanes then yes, obviously. But on every normal 60 road, you can normally do 60 easily without ever even needing to break but people think they’re still driving in cars from the 80s or something and slow down to 40 all the time for no reason

@@5uper5kill3rzThere are plenty of "normal" roads (i.e. not single-track, country lanes) that are national speed limit and where it is totally inappropriate to be doing 60. Speed limits are not typically set based on the layout of the road, but rather based on potential hazards *around* the road. This is why a single lane (not single track, I mean one lane in each direction) country road in the middle of nowhere might be a 60 limit (because there are no junctions, pavements, or buildings nearby), while a dual carriageway through a residential area may be a 30. The road conditions of the country lane might only be suitable for driving at 45-50, but the lack of surrounding hazards means the limit is higher. The road conditions of the dual carriageway may be suitable for driving at 70, but the surrounding hazards mean the limit is lower.

It's a SHOULD rather than MUST (Rule 2) likewise they SHOULD be in single file. There's further guidance in Rule 2 "It may be safer to cross the road well before a sharp right-hand bend so that oncoming traffic has a better chance of seeing you. Cross back after the bend." which could apply to the latter walkers, but such things are difficult to judge from a video. In any event, single file is better, facing oncoming traffic is better. The submitter was fine, just because it is a 60mph speed limit does not mean you should drive at 60mph, and they seemed to be doing a sensible speed as they were easily able to react to the pedestrians.

Lee is right, it’s not law to give pedestrians 2m. Rule 163 is a ‘should’ and provides guidance - rather than in contrast a law that often backs up the MUST rules. However, ignoring the HwC can still put you in bother, as you can be found to be driving without care etc. Indeed rule 2 encourages pedestrians to use the right hand side, except right hand bends. As long as the driver can stop, it’s all good. However,… There’s common misunderstanding why a pedestrian would want to face oncoming traffic. If you think about it, you’re actually making it more dangerous because the car/lorry must stop in a shorter distance than it can see - the pedestrian closing the gap towards the car - hence doing this on a bend is far more dangerous. But *the benefit outweighs this danger* , because the pedestrian is able to make a ‘sensible judgement’ by seeing the car and getting off the road and onto the highway verge. Most people don’t realise this and walk in the road with great entitlement, and will continue walking or jogging towards a car and close the gap further, whilst unsighted to what’s coming from behind.

The idiot teaching her stopped her at the repeaters, so when the drivers who were then allowed to come out from the T-junction were free to go - they got stuck behind her, there is only enough room for about six cars before they block the junction completely - so that instructor really was an arse.

@@youtube2kwatcher Look at the lane markings. The trucker is 100% right and the white van and the car are wrong, by one and two lanes respectively. It's M3 Junction 9, approaching from the south-west, i.e. from Easton Lane. The roundabout has five exits: NW (A34), North (M3N), East (A272 for A31), South (M3S) and back round to SW (Easton Lane). Easton Lane has three lanes entering the roundabout, the first dedicated to the first exit (A34), the second to the second (M3N) and the third to the rest. The trucker started in the third lane, the other two vehicles started in the second which should have meant they were heading for the second exit, M3N. After the first exit, they should have been in lane 1, while the cammer was entitled to take lane 2, as he did. After the second exit, they should both have been gone, while he was entitled to be in lane 1, as he was. Whereas in fact they were both still on the roundabout, the van in lane 1 and the car in lane 2! So the car entered in the dedicated M3N lane, but forced its way in front of the cammer so that it could head for M3S, a full 180 degrees further around the roundabout.

2:29, left hand drive lorry; where cammer was, compromised visibility. It was wrong, but cammer made a meal of it....

Lorry driver failed to give way to traffic approaching from the right, cammer has priority, truck driver is a muppet who clearly should not be driving on UK roads.

No he wasn't. You are supposed to anticipate traffic not just drive into a gap if you see one. An HGV driver who doesn't know how long it'd take his trailer to clear that clearly should be driving. It's a left hand drive though so that was the problem. I wish truckers like you would take responsibility and own your mistakes. I bet if I pulled out on your truck like that you wouldn't be congratulating me on my superb driving.

Lorry should defo have given priority to the car coming from his right - but the car driver made a quite unnecessary drama of it - no need - no need at all

7:16 Another lap of the roundabout makes more sense than a collision. While the Range Rover wasn't in the wrong they would have had enough time to take evasive action but didn't.
