@Peak Journal The emergency services have brightly marked vehicles, flashing lights and damn noisy sirens and still people don't see or hear them. In the 45 years I've been driving, apart from the fact there are more drivers about, drivers have gotten worse. Two things that my dad told me have stuck with me ever since. 1. Driving is a privilege not a right. Don't drive as though your actions don't matter. 2. Treat every other driver on the road as though they are complete idiots.

Had the cyclist been doing a more appropriate speed for the conditions he might very well have been able to stop or even steer around the pedestrian as opposed to hitting them. Yeah I'm not a cyclist but when it's been sopping down even I drop 5/10 mph of in my car when driving. However both cyclist and pedestrian at fault for that one, pedestrians should use marked crossings when they are available for their own added safety (not saying pedestrians shouldn't cross the road when there isn't a marked crossing for those nitpickers out there) If any one of the actions I mention had been taken, a good strong chance the collision would never have happened

Like in clip #2, I had a similar incident occur to me one day. Instead of being on the highway, I was behind the person pulling on to the highway. At the bottom of the ramp an old biddy, who resembled a cotton ball with spider legs driving pulled out into the traffic lane and stopped dead! She not only caused the drivers behind her to slam hard on the brakes, but also caused the drivers in the first lane to panic stop as well. I was lucky enough to anticipate this and kept some distance, but other drivers weren't so lucky. There were multiple crashes, all fender bender type bumps, with lots of broken headlights and glass everywhere. I stayed and assisted people and missed my concert I was heading to. Ms. Biddy continued on her merry way completely oblivious to the chaos she had caused. People like that need to have their license pulled!

No need to even change lanes. Just keep a reasonable gap to the car in front and the corsa was fine. Instead the mondeo closed the gap then when the corsa slowed to go behind where there was another perfectly good gap the mondeo also braked to block them. Terrible inconsistent driving and 100% the mondeos fault. The corsa did the correct and safe thing not to merge until sure. Its so important to have the skill to control others merging with your own position and speed. Relying on the 'easy' move to lane 2 can end up catching a lot of poor drivers out when suddenly that lanes occupied by an overtaking vehicle.

I actually despise how British drivers refuse to use merge lanes and then get annoyed when people use them properly and try and prevent them merging ahead (which is illegal). Think it’s pathetic that this channel tries to make out that the cammer in #6 is the one doing something wrong for using the road properly, that they’re the one asking for an accident when they’re literally doing it correctly.

The American mentality of that lane is closing, you shouldn't be in it has seeped over to British driver mentality even when the instructions are clear in the Highway Code, make full use of the road to reduce queues particularly during Busy times, and merge in turn. We should all be driving in a manner which creates the best flow for all road users, but there are a growing number of ignoramus out there who simply don't care about others on the road. Infact yesterday I was just about run off the road by a driver in the wrong lane on a roundabout, they tried to overtake me on the roundabout and cut infront of me instead of doing the sensible thing and going around the damn thing, all because they were in a rush to get to Starbucks for a coffee. Edit: regarding my close call, they hadn't even fully passed me before they started to move over. I blasted the horn and they slowed down and moved back across while I was also slowing to take avoiding action but I very quickly began to accelerate to get the hell away from them. And gave them the appropriate pointing at the lane markings followed up by the tosser hand sign for their ignorant actions.

@@neiltonks4627 (I have no legal training so accept this as my best understanding please) I understood that cyclists status had not so much changed as had in fact been more properly described. So this means when there is no clearly defined right of way they are priority, not that they always have priority. In this case the cyclist went straight through a give way, so were in breach of the highway code. The biggest change as i understand it is when turning from one road to another the people waiting to cross have priority so you should stop your turn. This does not apply in this case. It would be interesting to hear the view of a lawyer specialising in road traffic law or a serving traffic police officer.

Honestly, pedestrian does deserve some of the blame to an extent, I was taught in school that if a marked crossing is available, use it, its generally safer. Had the pedestrian used the crossing instead, they might very well have avoided being hit by the cyclist who rightly bears most of the blame in this situation, they were going just to fast for the road conditions to be able to stop safely, and even if the pedestrian wasn't there then your right, they probably would have clipped the bus. And just to clarify, I'm not saying pedestrians shouldn't cross the roads unless they are using a marked crossing, I'm saying that if a marked crossing is there, use it, because its usually there for a reason. And when crossing where there is no marked crossing, take a bit of extra care.

@Donkavision automatic camera's. My mum got flagged by one for driving in a bus lane by accident, my brother has had 2 speeding tickets, 1 due to a lack of signage in a area of roadworks and the other because he plain wasn't paying attention and missed the speed limit signage. If they have em for bus lanes and speeding, they are bound to have em for Red Lights somewhere. Effectively without a form of fixed identity tag for Cyclists we have no way of identifying the Cyclist in cases where they are at fault and have failed to stop beyond a reasonable doubt, that is by giving a description of the clothing and color of bike which is what most people will likely see, that description at that moment could very well describe 10 others in some places. Now I admit reg plates aren't perfect in regards to cars as some times we don't see the full reg or even a partial reg on a car when a car is at fault and has failed to stop. I get it Cyclists involved in accidents 8 times out of 10 are the victims not at fault in a accident but what about the other 2 when they are at fault? Wouldn't you agree that in regards to the Cyclists who brake the rules. Something is better than nothing? Edit: obviously I don't know you or anything about you, for all I know you could be a good cyclist who obeys the rules of the road as they currently exist, who cycles at a speed appropriate for the conditions, etc etc and if you are, then those who don't obey the rules within the cycling community give you a bad name. It's like German car drivers, famed for not indicating or driving dangerously. I can imagine the shock and horror when a German car properly indicates and doesn't drive dangerously

Think they're both as bad as each other. The cammer for using the roundabout to overtake and the Volvo driver for being triggered and speeding up to cut them off. Both need to rethink their attitude to driving. The cammer was risking an accident for the sake of being one car ahead in a line of traffic and the Volvo risked an accident in trying to defend their position and if either had got it wrong they'd have wasted the next hour exchanging insurance details and many more hours dealing with getting their cars repaired. It's not generosity when both lanes disappear and there are arrows telling people to merge in turn. It's the law. I'm not telling people anything when I'm overtaking. There are two lanes there for a reason. It's ok to use both of them. And if the other driver illegally closes a gap on a merge in turn because they're offended by something they imagined I was saying, that's 100% on them.

There's no law forcing anyone to let you in, you sit there and you wait for someone to allow you in. Highway Code Rule 134: "In congested road conditions do not change lanes unnecessarily. Merging in turn is recommended but only if safe and appropriate when vehicles are travelling at a very low speed, e.g. when approaching road works or a road traffic incident. It is not recommended at high speed." So, yeah. That said, the footage does start with the black car (that will later be crashed into) turning off from the left lane. Given it gets hit in the crash later on and everyone was moving at *roughly* the same speed, we know that the three vehicles were all at *roughly* the same distance away, which means the van probably couldn't be in the left lane without being uncomfortably close to (if not outright barging into) that car. Heck, it's entirely possible it was only in the second lane specifically to overtake that car. Who knows?
