Rule changes that helped the passing game hadn’t been implemented yet, and there were some very talented defenders in the late 60’s and early to mid 70’s. Low scores were very common, and players throwing for as many as 25 touchdowns in a season were rather uncommon.

Some of these stats are mind boggling, 16 punts by one team, 22 penalties for 200yds., 3-0 score, 12 combined turnovers, 24 total yds and only 3 first downs but you win comfortably...just nuts. However, this list is missing the Colts vs Cowboys Superbowl, or as most know it, the Blunder Bowl.

Ah yes, that Super Bowl had 11 combined turnovers and 13 punts combined. So a lot of drives didn’t lead to either team scoring. It was just dreadful.”

That Denver vs Seattle game was a rivalry game, since the Seahawks were in the AFC West in 1992. I wonder how much they hated each other?

@@wavensteinUgly games, but fortunately close ones (conference championship game round has had several of them). Also, if we are talking about those, 1991 AFC Championship Game could be one. The game was scoreless at half, and I believe 10-7 was the final score.

@@wavenstein Depends how you'd define an ugly game. I wouldn't say a game with great defense is ugly by any means. It's as impressive as a game with good offense.

I had Bills season tickets from 1989 until 2010. I saw over 200 games; preseason, regular season and postseason. That Browns-Bills game was the worst professional football game I ever saw. They talked about how bad the Browns were; but the Bills had nine false start penalties...AT HOME.

If you thought nine false start penalty was bad, try three straight false penalty cause by the saints during a ( I forgot) 2000s era football game. And I'm not even talking about the total of penalty in that game, I'm talking about the same down, 3rd and 5. About the time it was done, it was 3rd and 20th and I was like jeez 😒🙄

Don Meridith and another announcer are calling a Cowboys game. Cowboys complete a play, and the other announcer says to Meredith, "And with that play, Roger Staubach has broken all of your records except one." Don says, "Oh really? Which one?" "Interceptions." That guy was probably waiting months for that burn.
