The Ugandans had the guns and the Indians had the money. The Ugandans thought that they could get everything by expelling. What the Indians took with them was the knowledge of how to make money.

Indians will never force anyone to accept them as leaders... As long as they are in majority or are prosperous they'll always help the weak and poor.. thats how Indian culture is.. unlike stupid Ugandan people... I actually met Indian family in Canada who were made to leave Uganda in1972. The man told how he had food stores in Uganda and left with nothing from Uganda. He started working as raw material purchaser for a plastic company and wife started teaching at high school. He is a multi millionaire and owns properties, his kids are doctor and engineer. It is amazing how he started everything over and succeeded

You cant penalize a whole community just because they are successful. This move was led by jealousy and greed and envy. It destroyed the country completely. The general public didn't know what they were getting themselves into. They were so full of hope and excitement that they were now going to prosper. The economy collapsed and there were dark times for Uganda. It didn't just stop at the Asian expulsion. The people themselves started to be persecuted. very sad.

Why should any country cover an event like that, or a better question would be, “who in their right minds would want to live in a country like Uganda”,?, Obviously the Ugandans would have expelled the Indians in order to steal their Assets, this happened then, and it’s not the last, not very hard to figure out. The Indians are at fault for putting themselves and family in that position.

My first flight as a trainee cabin attendant in 1972 was Bombay-Nairobi-Uganda-Nairobi. Uganda-Nairobi being a "refugee evacuation" Flight. I got off in Nairobi while the refugee flight continued onwards to Mumbai with a fresh crew. I saw first hand the ravages of a displaced population. People weeping and wailing, dazed and traumatized fleeing Idi Amin's barbaric rule, leaving their homes and possessions behind. Whatever little money and jewellery they had managed to bring with them, was taken away at the airport by the airport guards. I remember an old gentleman being carried on board by his children because the guards had broken his wooden leg looking for hidden money! There were two dead bodies being shipped back to BOM on this flight. The next day I was back on another evacuation flight NBO-BOM with the same heart wrenching scenario. In my 37 years of flying I have operated dozens of evacuation flights around the world bringing back our people from war torn zones, but these earlier flights shook me the most. I pray to God that good sense prevails and the people around the world live in peace and harmony with their loved ones. 🙏🙏🙏

Idi Amin was right in chasing all Indians (Asians) and other foreigners out of Uganda. Not like that current puppet Museveni of the West and foreigners who's still keeping indians to dominate the economy of Uganda. Foreign domination of the country's economy exploits the indigenous citizens. Black Africans are always hated and mistreated in Asia, Europe, etc. You don't find Africans dominating economy in Europe and Asia. So that thing shouldn't exist for foreigners in Africa too. If I had that power, I would do the same thing to free my people from foreign domination and exploitation. One day Africa will be absolutely for Africans...it just needs continuous and persistent struggle.

I can appreciate there are different forms of intelligence, but the reason I'm concerned with IQ, is it directly effects a society and its functioning. And you can witness that all over the world. Go Google "IQ by race". Then go and look at those different nations. For example... Japan (high IQ) And then check out the nations that you discovered for low IQ. It will blow your mind.

Precisely! That’s why when the British colonized the territories now called “Uganda” they created a racial hierarchy which placed themselves at the top, the native Africans at the bottom, and the Indians served as a buffer-class. Once the British left, the Indians became the top race… or so they thought. Getting rid of the Indians was a difficult but wise decision. It averted centuries of racial tensions and genocides that would have inevitably occurred had they stayed.

The present condition of Uganda tells us all about the decision made in 1972. You can not discriminate people on the basis of their race because they're affluent than you. Any kind of discrimination, expulsion brings only havoc, nothing else. If they would've inculcated the democratic behaviour of solving problems, rather than being authoritative, situation could've been different. Payment disparity along with racial disparities could've been dealt in a better way while bringing everyone to the table for discussion.

Uganda's 80,000 Asians were mostly from the Indian subcontinent and born in the country, their ancestors having come to Uganda in search of prosperity when India was still a British colony. Many owned businesses, including large-scale enterprises, which formed the backbone of the Ugandan economy. Amin expropriated businesses and properties belonging to the Asians and the Europeans and handed them over to his supporters. Without the experienced owners and proprietors, businesses were mismanaged and many industries collapsed from lack of operational expertise and maintenance. This proved disastrous for the already declining Ugandan economy. At the time, Asians accounted for 90% of the country's tax revenue; with their removal, Amin's administration lost a large chunk of government revenue. The economy all but collapsed.

I am from India, from a state called Bihar, my state chose a leader who expelled most of Docs, Business, Industry ppl as most of them were "upper caste Hindus", as a result of that policy, almost all of doctors, engineers and other professionals left for other state and we were left with the low level GARBAGE who can't even treat a normal patient. This kind of expulsion also came when crime was high so Bihar earned the title of "hell" , "garbage" and is looked down in other states. Ppl realised this mistake after few years, but the damage had been done....we still haven't recovered from that. The whole state is literally dependent on government jobs as no good private company come to Bihar bcoz of past fear, some like L&T returned but they don't take projects in rural area which is 95% Bihar. We are at least 20 yrs behind from other states. That's the legacy of EXTREME policies filled with bigotry. Not really. India has a large population that’s heavily urbanised. Of course they make a lot of stuff given that they’re a large country that’s under one government. I Ganda is a relatively small country that’s still quite rural, like most African countries. It’s not ironic at all when you think about it, given that most of these Indians went to England and other western countries not India. Uganda importing stuff from India is just straightforward capitalism.

@Reaper So? India is a country of 1.2 billion people. If someone has a good idea in India and starts a business off the back of it, they can earn billions in a really short time. The same cannot be said for Uganda which has a relatively small population. It’s the same reason why businesses badly want access to the billions of people in China. It’s simple maths. Jeff Bezos has more money than the country of Oman. There are many international billionaires who have more money than the GDP of small countries. Honestly, people like you make yourselves look so foolish. It’s like you don’t understand simple stuff like geography and mathematics. India has a large population under one government and has huge urban centres. India should be doing much better, on the level of the Chinese, but it isn’t. But Indians would rather be here comparing their economy to a small predominantly rural African country. Meanwhile, your fellow countrymen poo in the street and wipe their bum with their own hand, and your women are afraid to walk the streets at night in their own country for fear they might be raped. Yet you focus on the small log in our eyes instead of the massive log in your own.... It is as it was written long ago, “How long will the wicked be jubilant? Historically, the Indians in East Africa were brought by the British to build railroads like the Chinese were forced to in the Western United States. So, they had been there for many generations since British colonialism. That's why they speak good English. This is certainly by no means to justify the brutality of colonialism and slave labor committed by the British. Furthermore, the British made sure to divide the Africans and Indians against one another. The British does this by favouring one group over the other, which is what you see in this documentary and why things happen the way it did. If you noticed, many of the Indians were still carrying British passports and not Ugandan passports. Why did they refuse to transition into having Ugandan passports? This was long after Uganda received its independence.
