U.F.O. was formed in the UK by Phil Mogg (vocals), Pete Way (bass) and Andy Parker (drums) in 1968... They debuted in 1970, but it wasn't until German lead guitarist Michael Schenker joined U.F.O. after leaving German rockers Scorpions in 1973, and the album 'Phenomenon' was released in 1974 that U.F.O. took off in popularity... They were a huge influence on rock/ metal bands in the 80's - Iron Maiden, Metallica, Europe, Def Leppard, Ratt, etc. Paul Raymond joined in 1977 on keyboards & rhythm guitar for the 1977 album 'Lights out'. However, internal conflicts led to Michael Schenker leaving U.F.O. in 1978, just before the release of their 1979 live album 'Strangers in the night'... the live album was their most successful record to date. U.F.O. carried on in the early 80's w/ guitarist Paul Chapman, but their popularity declined significantly by the mid-80's. Meanwhile, guitarist Michael Schenker briefly rejoined the Scorpions in 1979, but left again soon after and formed his own band Michael Schenker Group (M.S.G.) in the 80's and had some success... In the late 80's/ early 90's, vocalist Robin McAuley joined M.S.G. and they were known as McAuley Schenker Group for 3 albums. In the 90's, Michael Schenker rejoined U.F.O. and the band released 'Walk on water' in 1995 w/ Phil Mogg and Pete Way... However, the reunion was turbulent, and Michael Schenker left U.F.O. again in 2002 after 2 more albums. In 2004, Phil Mogg and Pete Way relaunched U.F.O. w/ Vinnie Moore (guitar) and began recording and touring again w/ Paul Raymond (keyboards & guitar) ... Original drummer Andy Parker rejoined in 2007 and U.F.O. saw their popularity rise again on tour and record sales. However, founding bassist Pete Way was afflicted w/ health issues by 2008 and was absent from U.F.O. and Rob DeLuca (bass) joined the band... In 2018, vocalist Phil Mogg announced that he was retiring and U.F.O. would embark on a farewell tour. Sadly, Paul Raymond, Paul Chapman, and Pete Way all passed away by 2020 (R.I.P.) ... Phil Mogg suffered a heart attack in 2022 and was advised to stay home... All of U.F.O.'s tour plans have been cancelled since. Michael Schenker still actively tours and often plays U.F.O. songs w/ his solo band(s). Other U.F.O. songs - 'Doctor doctor' ... 'Try me' ... 'Rock bottom' ... 'Too hot to handle' ... 'Let it roll' 🔥🔥🎸🎸

You just heard the greatness of a kid named Michael Schenker, brother of Rudy Schenker of the Scorpions, on guitar when he was barely into his 20's. The song Rock Bottom has one of the greatest solos ever captured and he was a teenager when he played it. Michael Schenker is known as one of the greatest to ever pick up a guitar. His style is blues based pentatonics mixed with the more complicated classical scales and set on fire when the two are mixed. He knows how to build and build a solo till it catches fire. You guys were right on about the musicianship. Once again showing you guys know what you're talking about.

Since everybody's already said the name Michael Schenker already. He's one of the most underrated guitar virtuosos that's ever play the guitar he started out in his teens with a little band called The Scorpions with his older brother check out some early scorpions when Michael was around first two albums let's say

Guitar God Michael Schenker, 'nuff said!! This album is a true masterclass of the art of lead guitar playing, a sort of hard rock /heavy metal bible for future generations of guitarists!

I got a CD that has lime 40 songs in it and they all rock I heard them in the late seventies. And I think they over shadowed by a couple of other bands . UFO does have a following. Peace n love

They were very big I was 11 when I first heard their music now I am 60 so they were huge back in my day. That’s what got me off of disco and into real music.
