Rock Bottom is getting the votes for a reason, MS takes a guitar riff and relentlessly drives it into a groove and then he finishes you off and blows you away with the solo. Total awesomeness!

Love the fact you got off on one of rock's greatest bands - UFO. Schenker and Mogg were the VERY best. I saw them first of all in 1979 and Schenker just blew me away. I interviewed him that night and found out he only spoke German-end of interview. Certainly underated

They started to take off when that live concert was released. They were really on the road to success when their live album was released in 1979. But sadly Michael quit the band a couple months before it was released. He played his last show with UFO October 1978. The "Strangers in the night" live album is still considered one of the best live rock albums of all time.

Thanks for continuing to react to UFO. They are one of the most underrated bands of all time. Most bands you want to check out the studio versions first. But UFO, you want to rock the entire Strangers in the Night live album. You literally can’t go wrong with anything on that album so take your pick. Even the version of Lights Out is their best version of that song (IMO). I’m a drummer (been playing over 40 years), and I still circle back to Strangers in the Night every couple of months for Michael Schenker’s guitar playing. It’s absolutely incredible. Please keep the UFO coming!!

UFO is one of my favorite bands, and then my opinion and many others should be in the rock Hall of Fame Lights out was the first album I heard from them in 77 saw them in concert three months later and they were awesome. Saw them three other times in the early 80s with Paul Chapman, who was a great guitarist in his own right and has songs that I find equally, great even though Schenker is generally considered a rock god on guitar Saw them when they reunited with Schenker in 95 which was awesome and then saw them about six times in the last four years right before Covid when they were doing their final tour with their guitarist Vinnie Moore, who again is an awesome guitar and has some great songs in his catalog

ii am practically on my death bed dude. I saw UFO 3 times twice w/Michael and I saw Michael 6 times. Michael, frank Marino, Uli Jon Roth were the best. And yes, I saw Black Sabbath in 74 and Van Halen in 88. And Blackmore too. But those 3. Whoa! My last show was Uli Jon Roth opening for Micchael Schenker in 2004. I couldn't have gone out on a better note. Michael was still great in 2023.

I was a big fan of theirs growing up. Saw them live several times. I saw them in 1977 and 78 and a couple of times in the early 80' s ... they had fans but were very underrated or unappreciated. Great band and very inspiring for guitar players not to mention their singer was cool their bass player was one of my all-time favorites to watch live because he would run around the stage and stop and pretend he is playing it behind his neck or he lay on the ground and play ..things you just would not normally see from a bassist. You know most bass players just stand in one spot and don't move! lol But not Pete Way! He was not a great technical bass player but he was an entertaining one. Loved him. But UFO was gaining popularity in the USA but they made the big and lost their great lead guitarist you see here in the video due to personal issues.. and they could never properly replace him. Because you can't replace a great guitar player like him. He had his own special tone that no one else had he had his own signature sound you cant just go out find some other guitarist and think it will work and it didn't and they UFO went downhill after he left. By the time they got back together with him in 2000 it was too late. Fans from 1978 were now grandmothers lol Anyway check out this same in studio version Have you listen to songs from their FORCE IT album 1975 ... and check out their Walk on water album - Covenant album and Sharks these were albums they did in 2000 are some good recordings but as for the band and the time to make it big, it was too late.

I must tell you. In 1981, I went and bought a cassette tape, a completion of bands playing live. Well, about halfway through side 1 of the cassette, this song came on. Strangers in the Night version. I have been a major fan of UFO ever since. I was in 10th grade in 81' and am so happy I found that cassette. He'll I can't even remember any other band on that tape except UFO...

As another old guy that has been a huge fan of UFO/Michael Schenker since the mid-70s, I would be neglecting my duty if I didn't add my voice to the others suggesting "Rock Bottom," and specifically the live version on "Strangers in the Night." "Rock Bottom" is always my answer to the question, "If you could only listen to one song for the rest of your life, what song would it be?" I've listened to "Rock Bottom" thousands of times (seriously), and I've never had a single moment in which I felt like I was getting tired of the song.

UFO were to many "The new Deep Purple" in the late 1970s, and they should've been as big. Along with Purple, I think UFO are way better than the bands they influenced, like Iron Maiden. Phil Mogg's voice is so melodic, and so is Michael Schenker's playing. Pete Way was seen as a character more than a musician, but his bass-playing was PERFECT for UFO. Subscribed!
