Featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski will take on #2 ranked contender Brian Ortega on March 27 at UFC 260. This pay-per-view event will be UFC's second in March, with UFC 259: Blachowicz vs Adesanya taking place three weeks earlier.
Into his second title defense attempt against Brian Ortega, Alexander Volkanovski is now currently riding a 19-fight win streak. Volkanovski won the UFC featherweight title when he beat then-champion Max Holloway by unanimous decision at UFC 245 in December 2019. A few months later at UFC 251 in July 2020, Volkanovski successfully defended his title in their rematch and won by split decision.
On October 18, at ''UFC Fight Night: Ortega vs The Korean Zombie'', Brian Ortega returned after almost two years away from the sport. Ortega managed to dominate Chan Sung Jung over the course of five rounds and won via unanimous decision. His latest bout prior to this was against then-featherweight champion Max Holloway at UFC 231 in December 2018. Holloway gave the undefeated Ortega (14-0) his first loss inside the octagon via TKO (doctor stoppage) in the 4th round.
