Uber Passenger scam and kicked out
I drove for for Uber on a part time basis from 2014 to about 2017 and each subsequent year less. I mostly worked concerts and special events It is usually not easy work when trying to find a person in a crowd of 1000. In the past I would sit in my car for an hour only to make $8 off one ride, now i take surge rides only from my local area. This trip was New Years Eve, these guys had 12 minutes notice when i would arrive, they still made me wait after I got there. They didn't have the required destination address to start and instead of updating the destination the canceled the trip mid route. I've had someone do this before and I didn't realize it because phone volume was too low. My expectations from passengers are not very high, they are: ideally be ready when I arrive or almost ready, have a destination input, no food or drinks, especially no alcohol, no drive thrus and a tip is always appreciated. For the record it might have been an accident but I was over it.
**Update, My suggestion to anyone thinking of doing this for income is don't expect to pay your rent or mortgage with it.

Heres how i behave when i order a ride: Im ready before they even get to pickup point, i dont make them wait, i sit in the back, i say hi and ask about their day and leave it at that unless they choose to converse, my destination is already in the system, i dont tell them where to go, they can take the route the system tells them and i have no problem, i say thanks at the end and tell them to have a great day.
Uber needs to charge these people double for doing something slimy like that
He canceled the ride, he can't rate the driver, but he will have to pay...ha ha, stupid!
The passenger in the front seat said he was also an Uber driver, but he wanted to give directions rather than put the destination in the app. Then he cancels in the middle of the ride and says he's going to downrate you. That's some special kind of stupid.
Uber seems like more of a hassle than a lucrative business.
"I'm gonna give you a bad score because you didn't fall for my stupid trick" classic, every time
Man, the guy's voice in the front row is so annoying.
When are passengers going to learn...
That passenger was not your requested rider. Anytime they change the destination, that’s a red flag. The correct rider never got in and cancelled it. Happened to me once and I won’t let it happen again.
I have a Dashcam for this reason. You did the right thing for obvious reasons. These guys just wanted a free ride during surge. It's funny cause they will be charged the cancellation fee multiplied by the surge.
Wow what a bunch of cheap skates
Dude legit sounds like like a 13 year old. But he looks like he's 20. I wouldn't even be able to take a legitimate 1 star threat seriously from him.
if they cancel the ride they can't give any rating. or comment
...and the punk even has the audacity to threaten you with a bad rating afterwards too. What a jackass.
As a fellow driver, I could definitely tell these little bastards were going to be a headache.
I would NEVER take a rider anywhere based on them giving me directions, it is an address input to the app or they are on the curb.
Hey man I'm a driver too you did the right thing don't let these passengers boss you around. I think you handled the situation very well and who cares if you get one star you have video evidence of them being rude
Dude knew he cancelled to end the surge and act like it was an accident to rerequest a no surge ride lol
Why is Uber letting scumbags like these go unpunished when they have their credit card and control over the use of app (ratings)? Salute to the driver for his calm and collective behaviour.
I used to drive full time, drove less and also after a number of pay cuts. I don't drive Uber anymore. I don't know how they get so many drivers to drive their own cars with little pay and no tipping.
