    Best board I have seen. The subdued greens are easy on the eye.

    The earth board is so easy on the eye, phenomenal! I just think the green checkers are a bit too funky, at least for watching this format. Really nice work!

    In Japan, Hideaki is called "cyborg" because he plays accurately, like XG

    Great format, great battle! Thinking about draw when difference in PR less than 5% for example.

    What is PR in backgammon?

  • @BackgammonGalaxy

    @BackgammonGalaxy

    PR = Performance Rating according to the engine Extremegammon. It is essentially an error rate. It is the total equity that you have given away to the opponent via inferior decisions divided by the number of decisions you have had. The lower the PR the better. PR = 0 means that you have played perfect according to the computer. PR > 15 beginner. PR > 10 experienced. PR > 6 advanced. PR > 4 expert. PR < 4.0 is world class. PR < 3.0 is top 10 in the world.

    If its a draw it should be decided over the board with a 7 point match to break the tie (no PR). Winner takes all.

    The more I think about it the less I like the PR format. It's possible for someone to win every match and still lose the contest based on the PR. That just doesn't seem fair to me.

    @@jcf20010 I think you mean win. On the flip side, would it be fair for someone to play better every match but lose based on bad luck?

    @@DavidKlausa Corrected the typo. Thanks. I don't think so because the object of the game, as is any contest, is to beat your opponent and luck always comes into play in any contest. Not sure that made any sense.

    @jack CF you would be right in any other backgammon tournament. But this is the "Ultimate Backgammon Championship" and the format is skill based. Obviously it is still super important to win the match, you win 1 point, but playing the lower PR requires a lot of skill, and it is impossible to beat the champion Mochy in this format unless you are absolute world class yourself.

    I think its better not show cube when its small too good. Because you will have many easy decisions after! And its better for your PR!
