Thank you so much! It is not to easy to convey all the emotions and thoughts about every position, that goes to my mind. Luckily I have a lot of experience through writing three backgammon books. In this video I tried to be very thorough and go as deep as my mind goes (almost) :).

Very enjoyable. I could watch these types of videos all day long. (Yea, I guess that makes me a backgammon nerd. Well, I suppose there are worse things one could be.) As always, thanks for taking the time to put it all together.

Books usually explains specific and(or) complex strategies(which are off course important), but overlook these innocents moves where we mostly make blunders, going through the all match is more instructive and Marc gives clear explanations. Thumb up

@@Marcolino10DK So helpful. Not only for analyzing the good move options, but also for often explaining why the blunder (and big blunder) options are wrong. Enjoying "Pure Strategy" now. Any chance of doing an advanced video on bear in and bear off vs. anchors on different points (or double anchors)? I seem to blow a lot of games that way. Continued thanks.

41s-64P*-41-43: The two splits are dead-even on ++. Two down is also reasonable (0.008)

  • @derlambach3407

Hello Marc, Game 4, Move 36. You roll 54 and Computer says you should leave the anchor rather then play 11/2. The explanation ist not "11/2 is better for saving the gammon" (as they dont count at this score or let me quote Marc Olsen: "I give a shit about gammons here" :-D) but i guess, that there is a small chance that you have do destroy your closed board with a combination of small numbers.

What does this mean, when it's too good to double? The position of keeping the cube and winning, also possibly by gammon, is stronger than the double back and drop ending the game with 2 points?

The game is not pure luck. If that was the case, then you would be able to beat Mochy in a 25-point match. That's not gonna happen ;-)
