UB40 are one of the most successful British acts of all time, with a huge string of hits on both sides of the Atlantic and around the globe. In the UK only three groups (The Beatles, Queen & The Shadows) can claim more hit singles and they've also clocked up 14 Top 10 albums. To date, 2002 is the band's only appearance at the Montreux Festival, and it clearly inspired them to produce one of their finest performances.

On one of my many travels around the world, I was at the tip of the African continent - Cape Town. There was a local band in one of the restaurants that decided to play this song. Great memories. I'll always associate this song with that particular memory.

You could put UB40 on tour with Slayer and people would still jam to this song. Truly one of the greatest ever written (Neil Diamond), but UB40 made the song for me.

that's the wonder of recorded music, you can listen to it anytime you want, you don't have to listen to today's music if you don't want to (I don't), all my music library is 80s and 90s with a little bit of 70s and just a tiny bit 2000 or later
