They should do the Rampage as their entry into the small compact truck market and bring back the Dakota to the midsize market. The Rampage can be the EV/hybrid option and the Dakota be the hybrid/ ICE option. Hopefully if the Dakota is brought back, it should be able to be had with a high output ICE option like the 3.0 L Hurricane if not a new rumoured V8 option.

So, my take away is this. I work for Mopar. We have around 34 workers that came here from Belvedere, when it was closed. I was told our E coat paintline is going to Belvedere and we were going to be moved to a mega parts hub in Romeo. So majority of mopar facilities will be closed and combined. Im glad the workers from Belvedere are able to return home. Any questions, let me know.

Vehicles that start out in other countries and are from a Domestic brand, but are later sold in the U.S., never sell well. They usually become dated very fast. It would be much better if it was designed from the ground up. A good example is the last and current gen Ford Ranger.

Jeep Cherokees days were numbered. In 2022 the Jeep Cherokee sold less than half as many units as the Jeep Compass, and 1/9th as many as the market leader (Rav4). Factor in the other leaders like CR-V (heavily refreshed), the Equinox (which has quietly been a very strong seller), Rogue (newly improved), Tuscson, CX-5, Forester: its nearest competitor in sales is the Mitsubishi Outlander and that's newly refreshed as well. They could spend a bunch of resources trying to update it to be slightly competitive, or they could look at the rapid drop in sales from 2020 and the hot resurgence in smaller trucks and be competitive again. Customers could always step down to the compass or up to the Grand Cherokee.

The Rampage chassis should be very close to the Cherokee chassis. If that's what they are going to put in Belvedere it would not cost that much or take that much time to retool the plant. Converting the plant to body on frame would be a major refit. That makes me think it will likely be the Rampage. It would make more sense for a Dakota to be built alongside the Gladiator. That line used to crank out several times the Gladiator numbers and could again.

Unlikely to be the Rampage. How will they compete with MSRP of the Maverick built in Mexico with american labor that just increased in price? With half ton pickup prices well beyond the average consumers budget and the state of the economy and interest rates I suspect they are forecasting a large move to smaller vehicles and without a mid size offering they will be out of the competition. I don't even think its an option at this point considering the lots full of half tons and jeeps. Probably a survival move. I am not a Ram fan but the rampage looks nice and the sooner they bring it to the american market the sooner the ford dealers will have to drop their greedy markups on mavericks due to competition. Then we just need chevy to bring back the LUV name.

The Chrysler 300 and the Dodge Charger are roughly the same size and volume and have coexisted nicely for some time so why wouldn't the Ram Dakota coexist peacefully with the Jeep Gladiator? They are good looking pickups (trucks to me, they have a box). The problem is that Stellantis are the most expensive trucks, feature for feature, of all the 1/2 ton to HD trucks!!! WITH THE OLD POWERTRAINS!!! If they can't get to being competitive without offering huge discounts their lots are going to remain full. A fully loaded Limited Ram 1500 with the old 5.7 Hemi is almost identical in price to the F150 Limited WITH THE HYBRID AND 7.2 kw ProPower Onboard!!!! A much more powerful and feature laden, useful arrangement. Here in Canada they have 10% discounts on the Ram 1500s and that makes them as 2023s competitive with the 2024 GMs WITH the 3.0 diesel or 6.2 if you are so inclined. They are in trouble. Here the Ram lots are overflowing. Gladiators come in but don't go out!!! My buddy's dealership has 34 Gladiators and even the holdover diesels he can't sell!! Too much $$ for what you get! Resale on them is dropping as well so he is backwards on his used Gladiators. He never charged over MSRP, even for the HellCat vehicles and final special orders. He's just not like that. MSRP on vehicles like that was a dream in his world!! He has a couple of hundred Ram 1500s and 1500 Classics including brand new, well optioned 2022 models!!! He has a few dozen HD trucks as well but it's become an inventory of all Limiteds because he can't sell them!! He also has a Ford dealership,,,, he has a few F150s ,, 2 - F250s and no F350s or higher. They all sell prior to making it in the lot (and Ford is d'mn expensive as well). He stills the vast majority of his F150s on order or prior to arrival. Mavericks, all sell prior to arrival, but he has noticed a drop in order numbers on the Maverick. His other vehicles have inventories he is ok with except for Raptors. That's a dealership thing with Ford that's kind of controversial. Here at least. Vehicle sales will take the most serious beating in the next solid economic drop,,, which could be poorly timed for them!!! It's just around the corner!!

I work for CDJR Dealership in Northern Illinois just south of Belvidere. Everything we have seen suggests it will be Dakota built on the Gladiator frame. With the Toledo plant already ready making as many Wranglers and Gladiators it does and the wait times currently, it does not make sense to cram another vehicle in that plant even if it use the Gladiator under pinnings. Based on how that plant has been setup in the past it will likely be the Dakota, and it will it should be out be mid 2025. It will also likely help create the 4xe drivetrain for the Dakota and Gladiator.

Why not both (Dakota and Rampage) on the same model an platform? This would cut cost and speed up the development. So if the Rampage is already tested in the USA and could get homolized (safety and emissions) for US markets, then they could stretch wheelbase and bed and give it different powertrain options and call this: Dakota. Stellantis has done this before with a different brand and it was a crossover, but they did it. I am talking about the Peugeot 3008/ 5008. Same platform, but different sizes. So they could start with the Rampage, and could built it even in Mexico for US markets and use this base to devolp a midsize unibody truck and call it Dakota for the US plant 😊 Another soultion would be an in-betweener. Maybe the Rampage is bigger then you guys think and sits right in the middle of Maverick and Ranger. And so they use the name Rampage for South America and Dakota for USA. Besides you know the measurements from the Rampage, then theorie number 2 is already over 😅

I've been on board with Andre's sentiments for years. I have been a big fan of the development of the battery technology in the yard tool market. Develop the technology there first...then apply it to the vehicle market. Besides, wouldn't it be great to be able to pull a battery out of your car, stick in the wall charger and replace it with one off the shelf? Granted that is a bazillion years down the road, but only serves to illustrate my point...you gotta develop the concept further before we can get rid of the ICE totally. I'll buy into a plug in hybrid, but that's about as far as I'll go vehicle wise.

Remember that Compass is as wide as a Renegade. So its a very compact car on steroids. Dont get fooled. Im from Brazil, ive never entered in a Hyundai santa Cruz to check the interior space but i've got the numbers for front shoulder room on both(Santa Cruz - 57.6 in ; Rampage - 55.9 in ; Maverick - 57.3 in). As you can see the rampage is the most compact out there.

Take Milwaukee as an example; a standard Red Lithium 18V 5ah battery costs nearly $70 while you can get XC [high output] and their highest output of all, the new ‘Forge’ series. All 18V 5ah batteries. The latter two at higher cost than the already class leading Red Lithium standard model. The bare Forge 6ah 18V battery costs nearly £199 as I understand it. No tool, just the battery. By contrast a M12 2ah battery cost $26 on Amazon.

I'm stoked for the idea of the Rampage. If it really is size comparable to a Maverick then it fits well into the truck size I would like to see. I just worry that Ram is going to shoot themselves in the foot by trying to do what they're doing in SA and make them luxury style vehicles and charge a stupid amount for them. Converted pricing, which isn't perfect, puts them starting at nearly double the cost of a Maverick. If that becomes reality then they'll never sell here as people would just buy a 1500 for that price. Also I hope the 2L turbo diesel manages to make its way here. The Dakota's will be targeted mostly at the Ranger, GM twins. They also need a Rampage Hybrid to compete with the Maverick Hybrid. Regarding the contracts...The car makers don't HAVE to raise prices. If they do, they're just screwing their customers. Profits have gonna way up. The UAW wanted raises because they feel they should benefit from these huge profit increases. Car makers could take these raises out of their profits and STILL be more profitable than they were in 2019.

Nathan we all know the only people that will be paying the UAW workers will be consumers. The checks will have the GM, Ford and Stellantis' name on the paycheck but, we know that $100,000 vehicle will have an additional $800 to $1,000 more tacked on to the MSRP. Merry Christmas everybody. Not a fan of unions at all. Never have been. Andre don't forget to tack on another 40 to 80 dollars for a longer running battery when you have to purchase a new battery for that electric trimmer. Batteries are not universal in which you can go buy any trimmer when the trimmer you stops working and the trimmer you have will not work with the battery of the old trimmer. You toss your old batteries and get a new trimmer and a couple of longer lasting batteries. I don't mean to be a stick in the mud but, these are things you have to think about with electric anything.

Remember in 2010, when 13 Chrysler employees from the Detroit Jefferson Assembly Plant, got busted drinking and smoking weed on their lunch break??? The UAW forced Chrysler to RE-HIRE them after they were terminated for breaking company drug and safety policy. Now, I’m 420 friendly, but it made me wonder what other laws they could break, without any repercussions.

Just go hybrid to trucks you have a lot of people buying those and if they’re plug-in hybrid for around town you have a lot of people buying them also add a diesel to that hybrid you’ll get more range out of it even if it’s a small diesel like a I4 diesel like Chevrolet had that they could bring back and make it a hybrid combination.

I can see the rampage being built at that plant since it is already outfitted for unabody construction. The dakota I can see replacing the 1500 classic assembly line when they kill off that truck. Honestly, I think the automakers should have said no to the UAW and just hired non union workers to keep the prices down. Now we are all going to suffer, and the automotive market might crash because of union workers' greed.

So you're saying before it took *longer* than 9 months of temp work to be offered full-time employment?!? 9 months is longer than a third of first year accountants last as full-time hires: with health benefits and salary and 401ks and everything. And those line workers aren't even considered employees until then. Wild
