It was a powerful performance given that Bono's dad passed away after a long illness only a day or so before the show. Poor guy was exhausted and grieving but watching the band and audience rally around him was quite powerful. I've seen them perform many times over the years and their concerts are very consistent in terms of quality. They put a lot of effort into their shows; I've never seen a bad one. Thanks for the video, cheers )

As being part of the people behind the Berlin Wall where it was forbidden to listen to the Western music, in my 20tees I have just dreamed to see U2 live. I consider myself extremely lucky to be able to attend their concert in Tel Aviv in 1997 and all I could do is to cry as it was also my first concert ever. Thank you for this reaction, it brought back all that magical moments from my life that worth a living ✨️ My memories of their performance of the song 'One', which is still my favourite U2 song, will never fade away ♥️ and their message was unbelievably powerful especially having the context of the people living in that country in mind.

Something that I think is underrated about U2 is The Edge’s backing vocals. Much like his guitar playing he always finds a way to enhance the songs without doing too much. This song, A Sort of Homecoming, and One Tree Hill pop up in my mind. Great reaction vid mayne!

Thank you for this great reaction. I've seen them 13 times and every time is a new overwhelming experience. This is one of 2 shows at Slane Castle with 85,000 people each night. This is my second favorite live performance show of theirs. I would suggest checking out performances from ZooTV Sydney 1993. ZooTV was a tour that changed all live concerts from then on. They were the first to create the long runway to a B-Stage which is pretty much used by all bands now. The Stage setup was overwhelming in size and technology, that Mick Jagger called them A-holes because they were going to have to find a way to match it. Highlights from ZooTV show are Bullet The Blue Sky, Love is Blindness, Running to Stand Still, and many more. The biggest rock band for 40 years and still going strong.

With I still haven't found what I'm looking for, Where the streets have no name is my favorite song on the Joshua Tree album (but then, all the songs are good on that album; I saw the Joshua Tree tour: epic). I've been a fan of U2 since I was about 12, listening to their music on the radio while I did my homework. I'm glad you appreciate the intro and outro lead lines. To me, they make this song exceptional. It makes you want to put it on a never-ending loop and it fits the lyrics so well. You should check out Sunday Bloody Sunday if you haven't yet. Another amazing performance and amazing song. Nice to see a young guy who has a clue about who these guys are. I'm astonished that so few young people know of them, or many bands and music before 2000 for that matter. It's like the whole era, which was musically extremely rich, has gone forgotten. Much to discover there. Rock with a purpose among other things. Peace.

It’s interesting bc even though I’m not a “huge” fan of their’s I’ve come to really appreciate and study their live-performances for our own…so it’s almost like, it’s not that I’m a fan it’s more that I have them as an influence? I saw this tour in Milwaukee, Wisconsin paying 30 bucks for GA tickets 2 hours on the street before the show and found myself front and center of that heart catwalk and saw Bono looking right at me during this song which freaked me out because he's a huge iconic artist and I was a huge fan since I was a kid and as a guitar player hearing the Edge play live with his gear is sonically from another planet! Yep, and the funeral was the day of this show. The segue from "All I Want is You" into this version of 'Streets' really adds to the emotion of this performance. When they do 'Kite' earlier in this show Bono nearly breaks around the line about saying goodbye.

Not quite... but it was within a few weeks. I was at the show in Manchester 2001 at the end of August around the time his dad just passed away. I remember the rumours in the crowd that the show may get cancelled etc.

It was performed the day after his father was buried Bob Hewson, the father of lead singer Paul "Bono" Hewson, died of cancer several days before the first concert. U2's first night at Slane was on 25 August, a day after Bono's father was buried. He dedicated the song "Kite" to his father.
