I remember getting into U2 in a big way - about late 1988 when I was 11. Spent the best part of 3 years buying all their albums and things, wondering when anything new would come out. I remember the Night and Day video (1990) gave us a hint about what was to come next - but it felt like an eternity and I actually thought they were finished. Then, one day in 1991 I turn on the TV, about half way through this video and I'm like, "it's them!!!!" They're back! And it's very different, but still them! Amazing stuff and it still hits me in the core.
U2 not only drifted towards Pop then, but wrote an excellent song. Brilliant Opener for every damn party. Like gathering before sunset and starting partying to excess. Also good: Discotheque and Loved.

Totally and completely agree. Friends and I have at length discussed this very thing. That is, what happens with a band such as U2 when this happens. Why and how does this happen? Is it like many things, simply a finite amount of creative energy that is in itself is fueled by a time and place in life, encompassing the pain, joy, drugs and or tragedies, life experiences that flavor and embolden it? And when a time passes as you grow older, fat and happy, that window closes and the music that is produced is just complete effort and work, only a contrived resemblance of past creativity and genius riding on the coat tails of just that in the name of "U2"...

The Coolest Song ever. EVER!
The absolute BALLS to come out of the Joshua Tree/Rattle & Hum Era with this is just amazing! They just absolutely killed it and it almost took them breaking up in Berlin to build this masterpiece up and blow everything away!
What a riff. I think it's all about the Edge
Incredibly underrated song. Pure, angry rock n roll and one of the best ever written.

Who’s underrating lol it was the coolest turn to captivate the most people. They ripped off the stone roses of the time for it I reckon, who in turn probably ripped this off without nearly as much commercial success
The most creative album and band on this planet!!!
Very good guitar playing by The Edge.

what a fkkn song, hasnt aged at all.
This record changed my life when I was an insicure, scared and angry young teen. Its atmospheres, music, words, attitude and even look spoke to the inner part of myself. It literally describes my emotions and my colors and ignited The spark, giving me the inspiration to embrace the dream of music in my life. I just cannot thank U2 enough. Bless you!

There still the coolest Joe strummer gone that leaves U2 the most politically conscience band Seen every tour The Joshua tree 4 times in a row dove from fence to stage shook Bono hand told him the bands the best and dove off stage lol He smelt like whiskey lol
Every one Know that this song is..... THE BEST SONG FROM U2
That guitar solo..is unique.. unbelievable
Achtung Baby was one of my first CD's for my new (then) discman. Played the crap out of it. So many die hard U2 fans hated the CD and wished for more Joshua Tree. But this album for me was their opus. It captures everything.
Best album

In this masterpiece there are brushstrokes that take years to understand, thanks U2! it's like having woken up from a slumber ... 👊🏼✌🏼🤟🏼
I was 11 years old when this video came out, and I became obsessed with this band immediately. Five years later I ask a friend to tattoo me the name of the band, and after attending to 6 U2 concerts , I only can say: Thank you for exist, you changed my life. ❤️U2

The vid eothat came out in '91 was a combination of this with the London footage. They shot the performance in Dublin and mixed that with Bono in London (Tv-sore, streets, roof etc). But this is actually a new video as they never released this before, like it a lot

I had The Fly on full blast today in the car, it’s a banging intro that gets me hyped!!
30 years ago. I can remember it clearly coming on Top of the Pops as it went to Number 1. I was doing my A-levels at the time. Holy shit, I'm getting old.

legendary song.really.....
Absolutely hands down one of the lads all-time greats with The Edge's massive cutting edge ear splitting riffs to Larry's warrior drum beating rhythm, Adam's added bass & Bono's mello voice, We get "The Fly" ❤️ !

☆We shine like a burning star,we're falling from the sky☆
To go from their long haired dressed like pirates late 80s era look to these cool AF early 90s guys was pretty bad ass.
absolute brilliance. From opening chord and word to the last guitar note as it drones out. Lyrically so robust. Def one of my top 5 U2 songs of all time.
U2 at their darkest...and I love it
simply amazing
Bono looking ultra-cool, Edge firing on all cylinders...... What a great great song !!
Achtung baby, the last masterpiece of U2.

U2 not only drifted towards Pop then, but wrote an excellent song. Brilliant Opener for every damn party. Like gathering before sunset and starting partying to excess. Also good: Discotheque and Loved.
This is so bloody amazing everytime. Band in its absolut peak. So different than Joshua tree era. Still so fresh. I hoped that U2 make more this kind of songs, but Achtung baby is the best you can get.

I saw the band play this live in 1992 at RFK Stadium August 15 & 16. Fantastic show!!! Still one of the best shows in all my years. I love this song and the Edge's guitar work was superb. They really clicked during those shows, especially the 2nd night.
My favourite song of the band.
So awesome in every way.
Everyone has a prime, of their life it’s how cool you come off in those shortlived years. You can’t remain at that peak for too long you’ll be so cool you’ll freeze lol but too few are nowadays which leads me to believe life itself had a prime
Bono no auge! Bono on the top of his career!

Happy Birthday Bono ✨🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤👌
simply a masterpiece
It was so strange to hear this song for the first time. As a teenage diehard fan of U2 who digged slowly into Joshua Tree after War and Unforgettable fire and Rattle and Hum after. And then whole world turns upside down with Achtung Baby album.
