What are the effects used on top of the Ebow here?

The Edge is master of effects. You don’t need the constant epic solos to be a great guitarist. A lot of folk hate the sound but I personally love it.

you can have as many effects you want, but you must still can use and work with them as Edge can!!

@@BM-ue4dt Thats right, I also got an ebow and its not so easy to get the string sounds like the edge.. and the secret of all ist the complete understanding of a delay´s dotted 8 note.. and dont forget the blue herdim pick for that special sound

@@hrzlpfrz absolutely! Playing with those delays on is one of the hardest things to do. You need to be perfectly on time with every note throughout the song or else the delay begins to scramble every and you get reminded of your mistake over and over again until the echo fades.

I lived in Dublin for 10 years. There was a busker on Grafton Street who always played this, exactly the same way. I would always stop and just get lost in the sound. This is the most beautiful. Thank you for posting. And, thank you for bringing back such fond amazing memories of when i was a young man.

The hand held device is called an Ebow costs about 85gbp/usd it uses a 9v battery to cause an electric magnetic field to continue the string vibration indefinitely.

@@sabretooth9830534552 Not positive but I don't think Edge uses an Ebow. It's often used when covering this song to emulate the sustained notes in the song. I'm not sure how Edge does it without it.

@@madcapper6 don't know his setup exactly but there are pickup versions of this device also and they're mounted in a pickup locaiton and look like a pickup.

8 edge is amazing at creating those melodies. You either get it or you don’t, he’s so underappreciated as a dynamically groundbreaking guitarist in alternative music. Dotted eighth just wouldn’t have reached its level in the industry if it weren’t for his iconic lines that changed the sound

It's easy to listen to the Edge and think "I can do that" but the truth is no one else did until he came up with it. When you watch his guitar part played the way it's meant to be played, you realise how special and creative it is.

2020 and still timeless. Can't tell you how many times ive listened to this never tire of it best to date

I remember when I was a super U2 freak in the eighties and the metal heads would totally slam the Edge, and did a horrible job at their jobs when the time came. I worship you my friend. I wish you were on stage in 1991 in front of thousands when I sang this song. Regardless, this super stuck up bombshell beforehand, did a 180 after I got off the stage. It would have been better if this uberU2 genius was the guitar player instead of who was on stage. I would have cried just zooming in on this guy. WOW>
