    Yeah, that's something that has always irritated the shit outta me. The police are public servants, so they work for us, and they are paid by us. In any other industry, that would mean that we could discipline, reprimand, and fire them. Law enforcement is the only job you can be in where you can consistently do everything wrong, and genuinely not even know how to do them right, without being fired *immediately.* I want consent based policing in this country, because it's not only a far easier system to live in, it's actually also more effective. Until that happens, though, we need to end qualified immunity and create a mechanism by which we the people have the opportunity to exert authority over our employees.

    They're just people from your neighborhood, even the cops are, and they don't want to lose their jobs or be disciplined for not following the procedures of those appointed above them. The problem lies with whoever is making the procedures, the little guy behind the desk is just doing what they're told, they are not legal experts, they are employees and they are threatened by leadership to obey the rules. Our problem is with leadership.

Lincoln, abolitionist and other republicans frequently used declaration of independence as an argument against slavery. Benjamin Franklin, Alexander Hamilton, and John Jay were against slavery with 2 of them heading anti-slavery organisations. That being said many of the founding fathers did hold racist views but they were products of their time , they inherited beliefs people before them left and made positive progress in the right direction .

Everything changed when people realized that they could be paid more, including more benefits, and be interminably employed in a government job where it is virtually impossible to be fired.     The fact that "signing in" on a visitor's log book at these offices immediately compromises your privacy "of name and identity", therefore leaving a person's identity readily visible by ALL PEOPLE who subsequently sign these log books, is THE underlying case argument.

    Every town should form Citizen Review Groups. It's called checks and balances - because power corrupts. That is a plain fact! So Civilized Societies just take that off the table.
