Bad by myself, diary of a mad black woman, why did I get married , (that toxic dinner scene) family that preys etc. Never positive, never supporting one another. I agree 100% with every comment here. I really like Tyler Perry. My biggest issues with him writing everything are the limited scope of creativity, lack of character development, repetitive lines in the same scenes, and (especially) the very regular negative portrayals of Black women. They're either ridiculously ruthless (think Veronica, Candace) or they blend into the background. He might have #1 shows, but they're more comic relief that believable dramatic series. *shrug*

I agree with you. The stats he used to support his stance just doesn't add up. Those writers were 10 years ago- 10 years. While the have and have nots are Owns top rated show, Tyler really has no Tuesday night competition given that Tuesday night has a weak lineup in television and the 9pm or 10 spot is a steal in that most ppl don't have another option.

Right. He knows good damn well his post wasn't about work ethic. He was bragging that he did good shit all by himself. Then, we informed him that it shows he does it solo--that his shit ain't good. Now, on this interview, he characterizes his failed IG post as him encourages "work ethic"--no--and he continues on his ego trip: "Most scriptwriters take 6-8 months to write a season; I take 2 weeks." Again, sir: IT. SHOWS. Use writers, and take your fucking time.

It’s funny when comedians joke about it, but when he makes a movie about it, we are embarrassed...? 😑. Get over it. He’s not listening to his audience, we’re watching just to support him. I personally record and play his stuff just so he can get the numbers.I don’t actually watch it because it’s all the same. My example of great storytellers are Shonda Rhimes and Ava DeVernay.

What people forget is there are levels to this writing S**T. If he were an MC he wouldn't make anyone's top (pick a #) list in lyrics. However he' #1 on the best businessman and most confident person list.

Yeah they done life stories and Shonda Rhimes is writing TV programs just like Tyler Perry how many stories can you tell in a hospital that you haven't seen before. Again these are black people making a mark in the television industry and I'm proud of all of them.

Just like the Talented Man said, his experience is real straight up hood shyt & if you don't get it then that's fine but why attempt to take away or tone down another's craft, especially when they are GENIUS in it. As an aspiring screenwriter myself who just so happens to be a focused, black, street, hood, woman as well as a professional, I can relate because everything is not for everyone and you do what works for you and don't let other fools try to place you in a box. The mind encompasses a variety of pleasures and gems if you let it. Tyler Perry you are an inspiration just as you intended to be when you showed your marvelous scripts and the work ethic that comes into play to make visions come to life. I hope I have the pleasure of seeing my name in works associated with you one day. You Inspire Me! MNC

All these people here criticising Tyler when he clearly explained he tried writers and IT DAMN DIDN'T WORK! Those who love his work were beginning to stop watching. Y'all with all your complains ain't supporting but want to show him how to go about his business. Hollywood with all its myriad of writers have similar themes all the time but y'all bought into hating on one of your own because of dumb criticisms and then go like "I ain't a fan". OK. Keep same energy and leave the damn man alone. If you ain't a fan then why the heck are you trying to tell him what he should do for his fans? People got you hating on your own for dumb reasons and y'all think you're justified. 🤦🏾‍♂️
