Tyler Hamilton: Testing positive and lying to media

Ойын-сауық

Tyler Hamilton opens up about the shock of testing positive, including why he fought the allegations, the damage he could have caused and why breaking cycling’s unwritten code of silence means he’s no longer welcome in the sport. Plus, Hamilton reflects on the decision to tell all after a subpoena from the FDA.

Tour de France is one of the most strenuous events in sports, it has adverse effect on body and health of the athletes, doping is almost a way to preserve health and longevity, but if you have money, power, and influence you can go above and beyond just preserving your health, you become a superhuman lab experiment, you become lance Armstrong

He came clean only after he was threatened with jail, that's not inspirational in my book it's saving your own skin. He cheated right through his career and served bans for blood doping. Everyone can make mistakes in life, but ultimately you're judged by how you own up to those mistakes and try and put things right. Tyler wasn't and won't be the last athlete to dope. But his actions, words, and the way he has faced up to his past is stark example to Lance. One has come out sounding and looking like a true man, whilst Lance still sounds unrepentant deep down. That whilst being a despicable piece of **** in the process.

The average speed in last year's TdF was among the fastest ever. I'm suspicious but I still hold out hope the insanely fast pro peloton speeds today is because of natural talent, training, nutrition, and advances in bike technology.

I agree we all wants to see extraordinary performance in sports and that is the main reason we have athletes that are willing to cheat to obtain results. The sad truth is that we as society are becoming very disconnected with reality. We place these athletes in the Pantheon of greatness and demand results at all cost and when they don't deliver they become disposable. The sport of cycling and sports in general is no different than Gladiators in Roman times. Throw human beings to the Pitts and let them fight it out with the Lions and have no compassion and we are not satisfied with less quantity of things and share more and be more kind to each other. Sad that human beings are the only species willing to endanger their lives to satisfied someone's else expectations. No other animal does this without training. And to think we are supposed to be the logical ones.
