Two-Rock Signature Amp Demo

Video of my visit to the Two-Rock shop outside of San Francisco... Put the finishing touches on the JM signature model. Here's a bit of "Slow Dancing" through it.. the distortion you hear is from the camera.

@@italomarcos1231 While I like Pilky, and I'm subscribed to him, I doubt it's John Mayer himself. For all his talent and skill, John Mayer is also quite egotistical and loves to be on camera. He already spends lots of time playing his guitar on camera on his social media. I doubt he has the time, or desire to build an anonymous youtube channel and make videos with such production value as the one that came out recently.

And in May, I'm seeing Mayer in London for the first time, as well. Anyway, Continuum will always be my "teenage years" album...

I'm sorry but you're wrong. The song is in C# minor :) Not trying to be a d*ck here just saying. Thinking in Relative scales has it's use but you shouldn't overthink it! Everything in music can be called something else but it all comes down to how all these notes fuction within context. Stating a song is in the key of E vs C# minor suggests different movement. I could go on and on but you should ask someone to explain it to you in person :)...oh and you gotta love John! Great stuff as usual!

BlackLlamaGuitar My original comment came off a little d*ck as well. I didn't mean for that to be the case. My point is whether you view it as being in Emaj or C#m both scales are used in improvising, its all in note choice and emphasis. That's whats great about music its open to interpretation, and hell no, you definitely don't need "fancy names" to recognize good music.

here's the thing. i agree that john mayer's music is not blues, it is pop. BUT everyone who has commented this video seems to forget what blues is about. blues is about emotion and EXPRESSION. the riff alone without the lyrics is not only very expressive and "sad", but the music cries with beauty. blues is about feel. these riff, in my book is defined as blues.

This sort of unguarded moment shows you how good he is without even being that awake yet. 3. I hope that he'll consider doing this sort of instrumental as part of the song live, like an extended solo or cut instrumentals of his hits. They're clearly written to sing out on the guitar. 4. Bravo John.

***** Well for starters it is in Standard Tuning and not Open B, where the hell did you get that from? Also its 134 bpm, and I've been playing for 5 years. You've got your ass whipped by someone less experienced then you. By the way, sort your spelling and grammar out for fuck sake.

so soulful! I been watching others cover this song pretty well, but all of them lack the way mayer looks so calm while playing this. His attacks of the notes are so perfectly delivered... amazing...

I believe I first watched this when this account had a different name? I might be wrong. However, his phrasing on this version is mind blowing, and I keep coming back to it!

Thanks for the videos. I haven't been following this Mayer guy, but he pops up every now and then, and it seems he's quietly building some serious chops.

I love the moment you try out the new little twist and look like, "Ha, that actually worked..." Great sound. My equivalent of a just-tuned Steinway grand.

Nice approach to "playing" the guitar, as oppose to mimicking or simply reciting another artists work. These days, much of the art of instrumentation is lost to blind mimicry...a la tablature, Guitar Hero et al. Your words are inspiring, thanks!

iv been messing with my amp settings to find his tone. this guy told me to turn ur mids down n keep ur treble n bass around 9. also a lil reverb depending on the type of jm song. it definitely helped a lot. totally hit that jm bold as love cover tone. also helps if u have a jm strat.
