Two Male Lions Hide From Buffalo And Elephant

Unfortunately for Mfowethu and his brother Casper the White Lion. When a large herd of buffalo arrives to drink in the nearby river, their afternoon siesta is interrupted. And then an elephant showed up.
Filmed next to the N'wanetsi River in Kruger National Park.
GAME DRIVE ETIQUETTE - RULES (SANParks):
- When you come across a sighting, slowly pull over on the side of the road closest to the animal, but keep a safe distance and turn OFF your engine
- If there are animals in the road, immediately stop at least 20 m from them
- The lane furthest from the sighting should NEVER be blocked, so that others can pass if they want to
- Don’t linger longer than a few minutes at a sighting, so that others can view it too
- Never go off the designated roads
- Never climb out of your vehicle during a drive, or hang out of your car windows or sunroof
- Don’t hoot or blare loud music
- Avoid driving into vegetation, as this could damage the environment or kill small animals
- During night drives, never shine a spotlight directly in animals’ eyes
- Never make noise to get animals to move, stand up or otherwise react for pictures
- Respect the rangers, and always comply with their requests or instructions

The camouflage is amazing...unless you see movement, you wouldn't know lions were there. Glad to see Mfowethu and Casper together. Love how everyone gets out of the way for that majestic elephant.

Life is tough in the wild. Glad to see Mfowethu with one of his brother and not alone. Wishing the Shish brothers and the Satara Pride the best. I know the 4 brothers are aging but I hope to see more years with them and to see their cubs grow up.

If you look at the movement of the grass, the lion was downwind from the buffalo at 1:40. The buffalo at 3:08 caught a whiff of his scent from where he had been hiding. He was upwind from the elephant at 4:06 so the elephant certainly knew he was there.

They certainly are and configured for near perfect weapons.
Looks like the lions right front leg was injured. Not a good situation for it.
Hide or possibly stalking? You of course know as you're there.......Ah, I'm seeing from the wind that the lyons are downwind and can conceal their hiding spot.

One of the lions is injured on at least one leg. He is limping.....But I saw already buffalo's "taking revenge" and go after lions to kill them. I don't know if it is exceptionnal. In Congo, where I was, the most respected wild animals where even not elephants, but buffalo's... So maybe that lion "knows" he could become the hunted, better he moves ...?

Casper has had that arthritis since Nov 2022 and it comes and goes. Unfortunately Mfowethu now also have injury to one of the front legs that is taking time to heal. Hopefully he does- he was the great leader of these guys- hopefully they take care of him now

That is probably why he is hiding. He might not be able to outrun the buffalo and elephant.

Casper has had that limp off and in since nov 2022. Arthritis. It won’t ever completely go away and he will have better and not so better days
