Just a little update, after having issues with the old set up I have finally bit the bullet and bought a Maxx Race ECU from Clarke at Ignition advantages

The plan is to get this all in, wired running and mapped before a big event I have planned. I also want to take this oppotunity to ramake my dash board and simplify the gauges. Utilising a little screen to show all the vitals and get rid of all the extra wiring and sensors.
'Less is more' i keep telling myself.

That's how i see ECU, buy once and forget about it. Also transfers over to other cars if needs be. Like the Honda ECU, people pay £300/400 for stock P28 then have Hondata put in for like £500ish, all that for what is end of the day an old piece of electronics. When there's loads standalone that go along with the cars sub harness.
If you've got randomness on tge fuel pump & cooling fan outputs then I'm sure you'll be getting the same on the ignition & injector outputs which is very bad news. The Maxx stuff gets great reviews. I'm on your page for displays & data. I've gone to a Haltech IC7 on CAN for one of my cars & an AIM MXS on one of my bikes. Power, ground & CAN, simple!

Stand alone ecu s have come on a long way. The more I read up on what this can do the more I want to explore it all and learn it

@@mikefpe Are you going to get the plug in for cornering and acceleration forces ? Also , you can use those spare egt inputs between turbo and intercooler stages ! Cheers bud.

@@Whateverpoopiepants the more I read up on this the more I want to explore it. Zak has ordered some proper Gucci parts to make a new inlet and he said I have to go E throttle. We are going to do boost by gear which will help no end. Also setting up a knock sensor and yes the egt sensors il make use of in the inlet to see and log what it’s all doing 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

@@mikefpe I’ve heard but have no experience personally that the type of k type thermocouple to use in the exhaust is the closed tip type. The open tip type go faulty fast apparently. I think aem thermocouples are closed tip. All this should allow you to trim each cylinders individual tune. Can’t wait to see the next video on this.
The maxx ecu is quality I’ve had mine for a year or so it faultless , Clarke is so helpful if you have an issue to , will you be getting it back on the rollers to ?

That’s good to hear. And yes Clarke is the man when it comes to helping out and after sale support. He’s up for running it up on his rollers when it’s back together

Mike I’m interested to know do you still have the Getrag six speed box? I’m presuming your using the st170 box , if so how does it hold up to that kind of power?

Yer it’s the st170 gear box. They are strong boxes and can take the power. but the ratios are way too short for a turbo engine and little wheels

@@mikefpe thanks for the reply , that’s interesting I’m hoping to run my st170 between 300 -400hp and I’ve heard some people say there weak boxes for the torque you get from a turbo and other people say there great to use and can cope no problem🙈 it’ll be on 17” wheels too

Zak will live map it then probably swing by Clarke’s at ignition advantages to run it up on the rollers 😁
