ROwDy TWINTURBO set up - Car control day with the experts
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
Finally getting some seat time in the Fiesta. This day was organised by the Camber and Combustion boys up at North Weild Airfield. They are the kings of trail brake/ lift off oversteering little FWD hot hatches. You need to go and check out their channel and sub if you havent already done so....

The day was great fun and I highly recomend it. Its a safe place to throw the car around and I can see how my confidence increased in the car throughout the day. Next time I need to push harder and get the thing to properly step out and catch it.
The car took a good beating and all was fine exept for it conking out at the end of the day. I had fuel pouring out the exhaust which was odd, might be a stuck injector or looking at the rev counter maybe a loose earth or power feed into the ECU??? Always nice when it fixes itself though. The AA guy was not impressed " why would you do this to a Fiesta?!?" PMSL

Thanks paul 👍🏻 it’s good to actually get some seat time
Great video, A course in reverse would be good for me, 20+ years of fwd hatches (3 minis, a 205, 4x306's and a civic) and been rwd for the last 6 years and dont have anywhere near the confidence I had, especially compared to in a 306.

I find lift off oversteer more unpredictable than rwd. I’d like to get more seat time and become more confident in it. Watching the c+c boys makes me cringe sometime. Mainly because I know I’d end up in a tank slapper and probably off the track if I tried doing what they do lol.
Great video and Love the the Engine noises , seem a little too bumping for Airplane runway...🤔🤔🤔Loving the car...

The run way they are using for the aircraft was over the fence. Not sure what this area was designed for. Defo too bumpy for a little sesna to come in on lol
Definitely needs a quick rack so you don't have to keep shuffling hands. Probably with a Corsa b column with variable assistance to make it easier to steer and then you can go back to high boost
@mikefpe

Yer we are running the same Corsa B column on the jelly slider Sierra. Great unit. And need to go for boost by gear to make the high boost usable I think.
The sound of the car getting its head kicked 👍🏻

Try too. Time is limited at the moment with the new baby and work seems to be busier than ever 😅
Straighten the wheel so you don’t have to guess where to put your hands. Now you are as we Finns say milking the steering wheel. Some good pointers from the lad giving you advice but I personally don’t agree with all of them. We have a different style of driving here in Finland. We brake hard in to the corner and drive it with power and left footing it with fwd cars, demanding on the brakes and needs a different mindset for accelerating in the corner. The car sounds awesome, could use some boost ramping in the track to get it easier to accelerate out the corner. Awesome machine!

Alex did try and get me left foot braking but that didn’t go too well and I didn’t include those attempts in the video. Lol. Think I need to get my head around trail braking then start playing around with the left foot getting involved as well. So much going on. I learnt more from re watching the footage I think. Next on the shopping list is a maxxECU to enable me to have boost by gear which will help a lot with how the power comes in. Thanks for the comment tho. All about constructive comments like this Much appreciated 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

@@mikefpe When I used to race, I did mental training before each session. Drive the course in your head, changing gears, turning imaginery steering wheel. Throttle, brakes and all. Sit on a bench or a chair and just imagine driving. And when you get behind the wheel your mind is already in the "game" made qualifying easy as you have already made the warmup laps in your mind.

Love the dolphin noise edited in at the beginning of the video.(and later on too). Is there a bit of a rub on left handers or was the corner a lot bumpier
@mikefpe

Yer another thing I need to re do is the rear tubs as they are too low and it’s catching on the tyres under hard cornering. The left handed was a bit more bumpy so we went back to the right turn.
Sounds sweet. Suspension needs sorting, it looks under damped at the rear?
@mikefpe

Yer the shocks were at the softest setting 🙃 this is all part of it. Playing around with the car to improve it where I can. Think the rear springs are also only 350 lbs Many of my racing buddies are using 600 + 😳

@@mikefpe Sounds like you're sorting it. Will make a huge difference. I know what you mean about tractability as well. 280HP is not huge peak power but if it pulls low down in the revs, feels great. Have a k20 with an eaton M62, not huge peak power, infact around 280HP like yours. But it makes 2x std horsepower at 3krpm. Pulls like a train :-) keep it up

@@samforsey I had an m90 on this engine before and it used to shreds tyres from 1k rpm. I’d like to build another supercharger set up at some point. Just for the noise.

Yer all needs some fine tuning. That was another reason to book up the day.
That thing is absolutely mental Mike, think you might need to get that boost under control for a smoother driving experience. I’d love to see some dyno runs and graphs.
@mikefpe

Yer need to get it back on the dyno for some experimenting. And I want to get a maxx ecu installed to run boost by gear @ignitionadvantages . Although it is funny as just blowing the tyres off every time you tickle the throttle pedal. Just isn’t the fastest way to go A ta B.
@Whateverpoopiepants

@@mikefpe Funny, I’m looking at exactly the same ecus. Are you considering getting the “race” ecu so that you can have individual cylinder egt’s ? You could also run a second dbw throttle body vented to Atmos for boost control ! High performance academy just did a program on it. I’m currently building a weird air to water from vw parts for my 1999 1.7 puma. Thanks for the videos.
