I remember the moment I first heard this track sitting at home listening on the little boombox my mom had recently gotten for me. The moment that solo synth bass came on, I was like, "What is this?!" Just loved the song instantly -- so funky and so bizarre. And when the outro starts with that bending bass note... pure

OH MY GOD! WE WOULD TEAR THE FLOOR TO PIECES WHEN THE DJ PLAYED THIS ONE. " MAY I HAVE SOME PEANUT BUTTER ? OF COURSE YOU CAN. " SERIOUSLY, MAY I HAVE SOME PEANUT BUTTER?

1980... college dayz... 20 years old... I put on this song... I put down my joint... I make my peanut butter sandwich... I pick up my joint... I consume both sandwich and joint... I light up another one... I make another sandwich... I rinse and repeat throughout the weekend! Holy God, how did I survive the 1980's?

True story; I was visiting Long Island the summer this was recorded. I know his son and their family; was staying with his grandparents. His son came over with the demo cassette of this song before its release. I knew that it was gonna be a hit that year for sure. Was a real privilege to hear it first.
