Tweetsie Railroad Heritage Weekend 2019
Tweetsie Railroad held their annual Railroad Heritage Weekend on August 24 & 25, 2019. This year, rather than one of the locomotives the star of the show was a newly restored flatcar from the NRHS Alexander Chapter. Despite being originally of Rio Grande heritage the car had been painted and lettered for the ET&WNC just prior to the event and looked sharp as part of a mixed-train consist with coach 5. On day one, the mixed consist was pulled by 190 while 12 handled the Wild West Train. That evening a fantastic photo special was held as thick fog rolled in for the night. The second day began with the traditional doubleheader, with 12 taking over the mixed train in the afternoon. Despite the overcast skies it was a fantastic weekend, and I look forward to Heritage Weekend 2020!
Shoutout to East Tenn Firebox Productions, Jacob Riley, Steam Z, Stevewivibeevy, and all the other great railfans I got to meet over the course of the two-day event!

Thank you!
Excellent video! That WP&YR 5 chime is one of the best 5 chime whistles I’ve ever heard.
You should have heard that amazing whistle 190 tooted that weekend. It’s her original white pass railroad whistle. It however felt all backwards to me seeing this. Usually 190 handles the Wild West trains while 12 handles the rail fan train. Glad to see it went back to normal on day 2. I guess Tweetsie wanted to make it different this year. I’m not used to changes because I’m autistic and used to the same thing every year.

Tweetsie had 190 pull the railfan train back in 2008 for that year’s Railfan/Heritage Weekend as well. You can look up video of it here on TubeYou.
Супер! Вот это пых пых! Молодцы и добрые те люди кои тратят свои силы на сохранение этих чюдесных паровозов. Спасибо большое вам ребята! Успехов вам во всех начинаниях ваших.
This is really really awesome! I feel like these get more impressive year after year! Great job as always!

Thank you! Heritage Weekend is always one of my most looked-forward-to events each year.
I haven't seen tweetsie railroad since I was 5 or 6!!! I miss it! I hope to go back again someday...
A splendid video with some absolutely incredible shots! Brilliant!
Gee, I guess there's something magical about an American steam engine. I can't put my finger on what it might be.
This is the first Summer in 63 years that it has been quite around "Roundhouse Mtn." I really miss hearing the whistles from Tweetsie and being able to see a live steam locomotive only a few miles from town.
That's got to be number one videos I've seen in a long time and I watch a lot of videos that fog just added to the atmosphere! oh that was just awesome

Thanks! I was initially really disappointed about the encroaching fog but it did end up making for some cool shots.
Hate that I missed it this year, but what a wonderful video! Great to see something new (or old) to the scene to really tie things together for a great event! Can’t wait to see what they offer next year!

The 12s whistle sounds so much like the East Broad Top 15. Bring back the E.B.T.

@@mattdotsonrailfanproductio266 hopefully there will be more than one baldwin loco 12 operating in the near future. Would love to see EBT #12 restored.
I'm loving that WP&Y 5 chime. (Favorite whistle) she should definitely keep that whistle for a long time.
Really awesome video! The engines looked and sounded great

Love it awesome video!
I've been 2 tweetsey railroad b 4 I wanna go back so dag on bad
Dont want offend anyone but for these heritage weekend the dress code should be strictly vintage or classic so people dont ruin the photography or videography standing in modern synthetic colorful Jackets with sports shoes. Amazing cloudy and foggy weather for the event
Nicely done! We have plans to go to Tweetsie next year, but we are not native to the area. There doesn't seem to be a very easy way to get to different shots other than on foot. Is that true? Thanks in advance!

The only places outside the park where the train can be seen are the parking lot where you can watch the train round the curve by the shop, and the trestle which can be accessed via the unpaved Leon Coffey Rd. Stay near the road to avoid trespassing on Tweetsie property. Obviously you must be on foot within the park where you can watch the trains arrive and depart from the Main Street and Hacienda areas. The park is very compact, only about 900 feet from the far end of Main Street to the far end of the Hacienda so you won't need to do very much walking.

@@SmokyMtnSteam you are very welcome!
Glad to see this one since I was a few seats behind you when you rode 12 and the coach. Also, was something up with your microphone? Seemed like the whistles distorted the audio a lot no matter how far away you were.

Yeah, I accidentally hit a switch on the microphone and didn't realize it until I reviewed the footage. I fixed the problem before going to TVRM this weekend but unfortunately there wasn't anything I could do in post to save this footage.
190 sort of sounds like a reading 6 chime
Cool video
Sounds like Walt Disney World Railroad whistle at 3:06, 3:48, 3:51-3:53, 3:55, 4:16, 7:04-7:06, and 7:08-7:10
Nice!
21:40 my ears just died
So how many miles of track does this narrow gauge line have and how often do they operate their steam locomotives each year?
@SmokyMtnSteam
4 жыл бұрын
About 2 miles of track. Steam runs every day they are open. The usual season is weekends in April, May and October, every day in the summer, and the weekends between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Heritage Weekend at the end of August is the only time both locomotives are running together.

I accidentally set it to be too sensitive and the noise from the engines completely blew it out.
