Had 2 visits since cancelling my licence, both times they left with a "no thank you!". TV licencing is probably the only company in the world allowed to assume guilt! The sooner it is abolished, the better!

I got that letter yesterday. I did tell them that I didn't need a licence in circa 2017. But It wasn't until circa 2020 when I states getting letters. If l sent this many letters to the licencing agency without actually doing what l said, my actions would be classed as Paper-Terrorism. But yet they conduct Paper-Terrorism on us via the postal service which if I am correct is an offence & abuse of the postal service function.

I have a notice on my door. It states that if you knock on this door and you are not expected you WILL be charged £50.00 and then a further £50.00 for every 60 seconds you want to talk to the occupier. Not had a visit in 10 years Only get 1 letter per 12 months and it is straight in the shredder 👍

Total waste of time contacting them, when my mother died we cancelled her direct debit and told them, we emptied her house and put it up for sale, it was absolutely disgusting they started sending snotty letters. There was a large for sale sign in the garden, anyone in the world could see photos of the inside of the house on the estate agents website they also had a set of key's to show it to potential buyer's, it was on sale for 5 month's, doesn't say much about their investigation !

@@ryanmoses8074 Buying a licence is more that the fee. It includes: 1. Compliance, you under-stand and accept their jurisdiction and authority. Contracted! 2. You act as trustee for the all-caps name they send it to (it's not your name). The fee just pays for your own enslavement in the system. All licences work this way.

We should all save them. Then on a specific day we all return them to sender. It will save wear and tear on our shredders.

nope doesnt work like that. Law states a legal authority (ie the BBC and their agents in this case) can keep contacting you FOR A LEGAL REASON (ie your licence) if you do not respond. Why do you think the BBC was so keen to get the prosecution of no TV licence as a criminal offence and not a civil matter? Civil they can not harass you , criminal they can claim a legal reason.

I'm afraid not. The BBC is granted exlusion from prosecution with regards to the letters it sends out - in fact the Government oblige the BBC to contact those not licensed. You can test this by taking the letters to the police - they will be interested until they see who sent them. Ask your MP why they explicitly allow the letters to be sent by the BBC.

I actually look forward to the letters, they are simply hilarious. The people that write and approve them are as sharp as a bag of wet leather; they are cretins. Keep them coming BBC..

It's how Finland did it, they used to have a TV Licence, then it came out of Income Tax at the end of the tax year, you see over there you actually get a full breakdown of how much tax you pay, what your taxes actually pay it's similar to the Council Tax breakdown but much more detailed, and they changed it because most people never paid for the TV licence, and they really didn't enforce it either despite having some of the most far right police and laws in existence. In the end the YLE tax which is the BBC in Finland, was introduced, however it actually ended up more expensive via the tax then the former licence, it's also the same for speeding fines etc, where the more you earn, the more you pay. I know Kimi Raikkonen got caught speeding and was handed a 30,000 euro fine, in the end the police never put it through lol, as that's just insane.

​@@leonbarnes1402No, it took me 3 attempts to get this clarified, you can legally watch a live stream on KZread (and other) so long as it isn't being produced by a large broadcasting company such as Sky, BBC, ITV, C4 etc

im unsure if UK laws, but once u recieve one of these letters, if u respond with a cease and desist letter back, telling them their repeated attempts to threaten harass and intimidate you are unwarranted and illegal. Once u send a cease and desist letter, it now opens up for a criminal complaint of harassment and civil liability. What ppl need to do is start filing both criminal complaints and civil claims against these tyrants acting as tv nazis

Most letters are addressed to the "homeowner" so if you sign your name to a cease and desist, they have your details. Also I think TV licensing operate under special laws that mean they can't be done for harassment but the Scottish lawsuit might bear some justice.

My uncle passed 18 months ago. This was before I found your channel, and as I thought I had to at the time, I phoned them and informed them of his passing. They they told me that I could claim back the remaining months of his paid fees. Being the third close family member that year to pass, I can honestly say my head wasn't in the game, and I forgot to call them back or go online. I recently got a letter from TVL saying their usual rubbish, about how there's there's no license, etc. Bearing in mind, between him and my grandad, I dont think their house ever did not have a licence since it first was required to have one, including a radio licence! And now obviously, because he's now passed, and the house is in probate, no one's living there, so no licence is needed. But they're saying they're looking to come and check to see if one is needed. But I have no idea how they plan to check to see if he needs a licence? Not unless, of course, they've got an ouija board and plan to ask him and my grandad's ghosts what the latest cricket scores were to catch them out!

I stopped paying for permission three years ago. I received one letter and ticked the appropriate box- nothing else so far. My advice to those concerned about threatening letters is to lose the fear.

I like getting the letters monthly, as long as I know it's costing the BBC money then they can send me one daily for all I care gives me free heat for the log burner in winter as well. Up yours BBC

Most extortion is legalised. Council tax, what a racket! Nothing lawful there. Income tax, bigger racket: Compensation for your time (not income) taxed on gross amount (worse than any corporation). Unlawful. They owe us a lot of money back.

I had a red and white one in my letterbox. It stated: "Do not ignore. You have been visited" although my name and house number was not on it. I went on their website, filled a 'no need for a licence' section then received an email saying I'm OK for 2 years.

You just made a mistake. You have now given them your details. Contact them and ask to be removed from the 'No Licence Needed' list and they will forget about you.

But TV Licensing/Capita do not send out letters like that. Are you referring to the envelope and/or the contents? So where do you think they came from originally? And they certainly do not send out letters stating: "Do not ignore. You have been visited". Filling in a "No need for for a licence", was a really silly and pointless thing to do wasn't it? Why give them any personal details?? Makes no sense whatsoever.

So did I, and then recieved a letter 8 months later. Do not trust any of their methods. Its seen as a form of taxation and their willing to bypass peoples legal rights who do not need a poxy tv licence.

I cancelled mine about 2 years ago and have had the 'to the legal occupier' letters since, which I found funny as they already have my details on their database. Anyway, I decided to fill in the no licence needed declaration on their website and have received their acknowledgement via email. Now, I can't wait for a visit as I live on a small holding in North Wales and my big vicious dog roams the property with my front door about 50 yards from the gated entrance. I have a warning notice regarding the dog to cover myself, so I'd just like to wish any 'enforcement officer' good luck getting to my front door. If you make it, I guarantee you won't make it back!

Last tv idiot that visited me ended up sitting in a tree for 45 mins until the police came , my dogs kept him there as they dont like intruders with zero powers , the cops didnt laught but smiled alot , i was told to keep control of my dogs from now on

So, as the BBB says this amounts to harassment - take them to court? Get folk together for a class action...could be fun.

I have a note on my door if you haven't got an appointment don't bother knocking because nobody will answer it😅😂

My note was shorter,it was two words,the second word was ‘OFF’.

We haven't paid the TV Tax in many years. I live in a building with the intercom to access the building. Not long after I declared I didn't need one as we don't watch TV live or otherwise, they sent a goon to the door, they asked my name directly what i thought was odd but let him in anyway, he stated who he was and requested to be invited in, I did, it was the best thing ever!! He looked at the TV ariel saw nothing was connected, and we even offered him to go upstairs to the bedrooms to look at these, he didn't want to and said thank you and left, never had one at the door ever again.

i believe they have no legal right to enter any ones house without being invited and even then they cannot enter the sanctity of your bedrooms But you were lucky that time. Next time don't let them in as they are known to fit people up. Next time " no thank you" politely and shut the door. The only way people get done or fitted up is when they let them in. Be very careful, they cant' be trusted. And after all would you let just anyone who comes to your door in and march them up to your bedroom. i not sure you would and i would not either. These people are salesmen and should be treated as strangers and certainly not be given the grand tour.

@@brimkathstampex2306 Maybe he's been brought up to be scared of false authority. My parents were so scared when the detector vans were around and it may have been the same for him and it rubbed off. Thankfully I have had a healthy distaste of any over zealous authority (must be the old punk in me). So don't judge him too harshly. When your uniformed and scared you tend to buckle under the pressure. Let's hope he has, by watching this, learned that his home is truly HIS castle and that he can pull up the drawbridge anytime without permission from anybody.

You're absolutely right. How would those idiots who write these letters like it if they were to receive letters saying an enforcement officer was coming round to their home to check that they weren't doing anything illegal like taking drugs etc.

My mate let one in - he was paying his licence but they still treated him like dirt..

Got my monthly one a few days ago.

Cancelled my TV Tax 3 months ago. Best thing i've done this year!

Charge the BBC for sending their TV signals through your house. Say £5lk per year. Then invoice them.

TV licencing turned up in my road recently to visit an address that had no tv licence. The reason is that the house has been demolished. I laughed from the bottom of my boots at that goon!

You know what to this day the police have not sent me any letters or been to my house yet to check if I need a gun licence (I don't have guns), I think the reason for this is most people will get any licences they need for whatever they are doing and want to stay legal.

After not watching BBC since 2015 I've finally filled out the online declaration and cancelled my direct debit 🎉🎉

Letters in bin. Sign on door, no unsolicited sales callers. In the unlikely event I open a door to a TV goon, it gets quickly shut in their face with a ‘No thanks’.

There was a famous criminal investigation where a "survey" was sent out with a generic number on it...but a hidden number in "invisible ink" was on every paper. That invisible number was assigned and delivered to a specific address. The papers assigned to the houses of "particular interest" were fingerprinted and DNA'ed on their return to the survey HQ. ... and all particular addresses from which no papers were returned warranted further investigation. In the end a serial killer was located...

I've always said this about TV Licenses, people who WATCH TV broadcasts including the BBC channels should buy a TV license, but if you don't watch the TV channels at all, then why should you be charged for something you do not use or want?

I watch, but why should I pay? Who am I? The beneficiary. No payment required.

I declared on their website that I don’t need a licence and TV Licensing acknowledged receipt. I then emailed them stating “I hereby withdraw any implied right of access to my property to you or your agents forthwith.” This was suggested by the Black Belt Barrister. They confirmed that they understood this and would use “other means” to identify whether I require a licence. In two years, I have never received either a letter or a visit.

Wonder how much it costs every year for the letters ?

I got the exact same letter and I'm in Scotland. They are all rubbish, mass printed nonsense.

A lot of tenants who rent rather than own their property don't realise they basically have the same rights when it comes to door-to-door goons. Just because you rent your place, you are under NO obligation to let these goons in. They can't even demand that your landlord allows them entry. Renters out there: you have a right to privacy and quiet enjoyment of your place. Don't let these goons in!

I have been waiting for nearly 8 years for the visit, I have a sack full of letters to return when they visit but they dont seem too bothered to collect them.

Theres a new one with "10 day window" showing thru the clear plastic on the front. I think they must be revamping their letters. lol.

they have been sending these letters for at least 30 years based on my experience. Has anyone kept these letters? It must worth a fortune to collectors!
