Thanks for the video as it gives me an alternative in making wood beams. I'm getting into 1/35th scale zombie/apocalypse dioramas and of course, the sheet you're using is too thick for my scale. Got a couple of sheets of 1/16th thick foam board that I'll try using the wire brush technique. How does the insulation board react to paint? Do you pre-coat it with anything so the paint will stick better or just paint it on? If you just painted it as is, how many coats did you have to apply? Just wondered if it really sucked up the paint, requiring multiple coats.

No problem always glad to help. They do sell this insulation foam in thiner sheets at some hardware stores too. The insulation board takes paint very well and I don't pre-coat it with anything I just useally use a black wash before I paint my projects other then that I paint right on it. With the paints I'm using it usually only takes one coat unless its a light color like whites and yellows but, you might be okay if your using better paints with more pigment in them. It doesn't suck up the paint to much but, if you add a lot of texture you might need two coat. I do notice the white project foam board does suck up paint more then the insulation board though. I hope that helps man and if you have a Facebook, Instagram, or twitter where you post your projects fell free to let me know I would be glad to view some of your work!

It's called xps foam most big chain hardware stores have it in the insulation section. You can find it on Amazon as well and it can sometimes come in pink, green, yellow, blue and different thickness.
