    That performance calculator will always give you flex temp 43. 400 hours in the FBW and using this calc exclusively. And it’s always given the same flex temp. No matter what values you put in

    Note: take-off trim is not exactly necessary on the neo iteration. Further: the trim field in the mcdu serves more of an reminder. In neo aircraft you can leave the pitch trim at 0 for take-off without any problems or degraded take-off handling whatsoever

    Really helpful and very clear. Many thanks. One possible error in your calculation though, when you were calculating the FLEX, it looks like you've taken the temperature of 1C from the arrival airport rather than -3C at the departure airport. Hope you haven't damaged the engines :>)

    Unfortunately that Trim Calculator is inaccurate as no matter what value you put in, it will always display the same incorrect value.

  • @FlyOverGames

    @FlyOverGames

    2 жыл бұрын

    That is not correct, values for the trim in the calculator are from the PDF Manual of the FSLabs A320, and it will give you the appropriate value depending on what is your CG. Maybe numbers are a little bit different for the NEO plane, but at this moment this is the best that you can get.

    @@Fakester You must be doing something wrong, trim calculator can't give you the value of 43 ever, It range from 2.5UP until 2.5DN and that is all you can get from it. Are you maybe talking about FLEX temp calculator ?

    thank you for your helpful tutorial. However I do believe you made 2 critical errors, the first being you used the outside temp for your destination instead of takeoff and te second was your rotate speed. you spoke the right number of 139 but you entered 138.. over .

    Let me get this right... you used your zero fuel weight center of gravity to compute your trim setting for take off? Shouldn't that be based on take off weight center of gravity? how you did it, you are assuming your fuel has no influence on the trim of your aircraft. What you really need to look at is the load report, or short of that, look at your weights and balances page to get CG information. Sure, some fuel will burn off from the gate to the runway, but usually not enough to affect trim too much. Also, it is my understanding that the THS setting really does nothing except produce a warning if you don't manually adjust your trim to match it close enough before take off.

    Go and check official Airbus documentation, and you will find a chart with all possible CG-s, and related trim settings, Airbus is weird, not like Boeing, and it is not flap settings it is trim settings. Flaps settings are calculated with different math. There is another way of calculating trim (by weight) however I didn't cover that in this video, but get to the same point.

  • @truespirit

    @truespirit

    @@FlyOverGames I meant trim setting, not flap setting and corrected it in my response. You used ZFWCG to get the trim setting for take off. The plane has fuel at take off, so I'd assume a different CG.

    As I said, go and read the original Airbus manual, search where is talking about trim and you will find exactly the same there. Even a table with numbers of all possible CG and equivalent trim settings.
