Hi, Many thanks for producing these videos. They are fantastic and easy to follow. I have a question on 9:12 of the video, I don't get any click nor is the brass plunger retained in the plastic. Would it still work or will it not allow appropriate flow back from the injectors. My motor was running rough and I thought it was that return filter but it was clean but when I went to check that one way valve the brass and spring wasn't retained in the grey plastic housing. Thanks, Rich

I saw your tutorial # 4 of fuel pump on a evinrude etec 30 hp Have the next problem: I have installed two Evinrude 30 hp engines (year 2019) Both with independent fuel tanks Since new about 200 liters of fuel comsuption During use al 4200 rpm , and aleatory, one engine or the other looses power to iddle (bur still running) Sometimes, just pull the throttle back and foward and get power again, sometimes , need to stop the engine with the key, restart and full power again. Have installed both independent external fuel filters with water tramp between original fuel tanks and engines What could be the problem? The no return valve? The Plunger with the float? the no return valve of air in the top ? Fuel vents on the tanks are ok Have to change small filters arround the fuel pump lines? Thank you for your advise Best regards Cesar

Great videos! I just got a 2018 Evinrude 25 hp (model: E25DPGLAFD) used with 30.5 hours on the engine. Since I got it, I've been having trouble with keeping the engine running. When completely cold, it seems to start up fine and run for 10 seconds before cutting out. After a time or two of that happening, it cranks and turns over, runs for maybe a second, and then turns off. After the engine dies, LEDs 3 & 4 remain on. I bought diagnostic software and I'm getting a current engine fault code 91: Fuel Pump Circuit Open. The gas tank and all hoses were connected, and I checked the fuel primer bulb to make sure the engine had plenty of gas. Do you think that going through this "Tutorial 4: Verify and clean a fuel pump" should be my first step with troubleshooting? Anything else you'd recommend? Thanks a ton for your help!

Great video. My 2010 etec 25hp is flooding. It looks to have this exact vst/fuel pump assembly. I will attempt to clean that return filter that is needle shaped, inside there. I know it is flooding because 1. The plugs were wet. 2. When I removed the gas tank fuel line from the motor and pressed the spring on the male fuel connector fitting on the motor to relieve the pressure it ran really smooth and well and resolved the rough stalling mode. To cause it to flood 1. The high pressure fuel pump overrides the injector on open? 2. Gas tank vent not open or bulb pressed too hard? 3. The water through line in the vst is leaking water into it? 4. The no serviceable valve mentioned on top of the vst is not working? Anybody know? 5. Could water from the transducer "splash up" be finding it's way to air intake system? Doubt this but thought but thought I would be ask. The video addresses low pressure issues but not high, ie flooding. Thanks in advance. 6. Broken or dislodged float or float filled with gas?

if the small mesh filter on the pressure control valve is plugged (The valve with the spring that he stretched) , it will prevent fuel pressure from being properly controlled (it can be checked with a fuel pressure gauge) and you will get high fuel pressure , this puts a lot of stress on the electric fuel pump and can make the engine run rich ,, make sure the tube that cool water flows through inside the VST has no leaks , or you will leak water into fuel in the Vapor separator tank and ruin your injectors

I may have a solution for that,I lost the spring and shaft with the rubber seal while servicing it,the hole on the upper gray piece wore out and the shaft and spring popped out and went flying to the moon.I used a needle valve from an old carburetor ( it fits perfectly and seals properly. I then cut a spring from a ball point pen and secured it to the needle valve, providing you still have the upper gray piece,i cut about a 1/4” off of it and pushed it in against the spring, pushing down on the needle valve,so far works like a charm. They don’t sell individual parts for this vst,the only other option is replacing the entire assembly, which cost around $500 usd

The inline fuel filter should be replaced every 300-hours or three years for average recreational use ,(unless it gets plugged up by the use of bad fuel line of a tank of bad fuel) you need two oetiker fuel line clamps and the oetiker tool to crimp the clamps down when you replace it .. why do they use that style clamp ? because they seal a connection better then the other styles ,, kzread.info/dash/bejne/gqWkrKmgkbSTeLQ.html

Important note in your step by step for reassembly you forgot to illustrate the re-installation of the pressure relief valve assembly (I see it in place but you did not show its instillation) and tube after reinstalling the pump and screwing down its cover with the torx screws . while its obvious as one will have this part left over after reassembly , if you do not replace the fuel pressure regulator and tube Assembly you will have no fuel pressure to the injector manifold supply and the engine will not start or , start and run extremely poorly .. it is important to note the injectors high current electromagnet coils are cooled by the fuel as well as supplied with fuel. if the small mesh screen on the pressure regulator does gets plugged up, the fuel pressure will go way up and this puts the pump under a lot of stress, this also stops the fuel in the loop from returning to the Vapor separator tank so the injectors are not cooled as well as over pressured with throws off the injector charge calibration and makes the engine run rich ...
