Tutorial #4: Ditch Light Install - 2021 Toyota RAV4 XLE Hybrid

Hey Guys!
For those of you with RAV4 hybrids like me you know that our batteries are in the trunk. Luckily you won't have to run the wire all the way back there. Here's a quick video of the solution I found!
Here are the links to all the parts I used:

Thank you for watching my video! :)

    Nice pal. Appreciate the relaxing music as opposed to noise others use for back ground that sounds like a bunch of wild heathens with head hunting propensities.

    Nice video, good instructions.. thanks! One small question: did you had any issue by disconnecting the positive terminal at the fuse box when you were placing the positive wire of the light harness? You are the only one in KZread that did not made a hole at the fuse box! Much better the route you did... Thanks

    Thank you! Yeah, when I go camping or anything off road the engine bay gets real dirty. So I didn’t want to drill a hole and cause any potential damage in the fuse box. I didn’t have any issues 👌🏽

    Nice video! I'm considering getting a RAV4 and building it up as well. Did you consider a Trigger 4 Plus Wireless Accessory Controller for your lights? I think that would allow you to not need to wire the switch through the firewall. This device allows you to control any accessories wirelessly or via your phone which is pretty cool. Last Last of Defense did a video using it.

    @@TheNivragni I investigated myself. Hi-beams and DRL are coupled together like the old-style halogen bulb circuit. Hi-beam 12V, DRL 6V. There is no 0-12V level with the factory switch. If you want, you can use an auxiliary circuit to convert 12-6 to 12-0. There are some circuits available in the market, however, they are not designed for automotive applications. They will not last long and may not be safe.

    Just realized that the hybrid battery is in the back and this must be where you draw power from the front. Is it ignition controlled though? Or do your lights stay on when the ignition is off?

  • @HeyJodyBryan

    @HeyJodyBryan

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@aaronjhall hey Aaron, yeah… unfortunately, for the hybrids or batteries are in the trunk. For awhile we were running the wiring through the floors into the trunk, but there had to be an easier way… so my friends and I found this route. The raptor lights are on when the ignition is on. The power switch works on/off with the ditch lights 👍🏽

    so this is how you get power for those ditch lights? simple as that you dont have to create or run any extra fuse in the fuse box? or run the wire behind the battery?

    There's an alternative method in the fuse box here: kzread.info/dash/bejne/qKeVmshweL3Sido.html Also thinking out loud - you might be able to tap an existing fuse if your load is within reason (ex LED based lighting). Take all precautions though.
