Sir Rico, I'm a self-taught singer/songwriter, I uploaded 2 of my original compositions here on KZread. Naalala ko when I was in my early 20s, songs mo ginagamit ng band ko before sa competitions, "Kisapmata", "Liwanag Sa Dilim", "Umaaraw Umuulan", nanalo naman kahit papaano sa awa ng rock & roll gods. 😅 Some of your "lesser known" works still amaze me to this very day, "Kahit Walang Sabihin" to me is a gothic rock masterpiece, "Say Forever" is one of my personal faves because new wave is love. Hanggang ngayon, I fantasize na once na marinig yan sa malaking part ng Europe and US, sasabog pa rin siya. I believe in that song so much. Yung appeal niya sa mga foreigner. Sana mabasa mo ito. I may never reach the level of your genius, but your influence in my music is just enormous, especially how you arrange, the slow-fast pace, the vocal harmony, the meticulous way of weaving together all the instruments, walang sayang na tunog, I learned all that just by listening to your records. Thank you for the music Sir Rico. Long live.

Same thoughts and reflection here bro. It was in my teenage years when I started to really appreciate pinoy music. There's that level of class into how all the parts and instruments fit together along with a well written lyrics. Makes me wonder how we can bring back the golden age of pinoy music. Over the years, I am proud to say that I am thankful for Rico and his music. Am now serving as a worship guitarist. 😊🙏

@@gabstingkarlching I believe it's like being stabbed, kasi masaklap ma-friendzone, may line sa song na (For all I know you only see me as a friend, I try to tell myself, "Wake up fool! This fairytale's got to end.") and I guess yung girl sa song is an actress/supermodel, kasi nasa billboard siya eh, (Your face lights up the sky on the highway...) which makes the 'protagonist' somehow feel a little discouraged? Dahil siguro he's just an average joe and the girl is like way out his league. Balisong, siguro kasi nga, it's like a dagger to the heart when you really like someone but you know you can't have that person, like you don't even stand a chance. Parang knife, cuts like a knife, ganun. That's my 2 cents lang bro. 😉 Sana replyan ka ni Sir Rico. I'm also curious. 🤔

@@francisjasonlozarita3774 I patterned one my earlier compositions (Agila) after Alab Ng Puso and Bandila, man, those are legendary rock anthems. Pure gems. Nakapulot ako sa mga kantang yan, their lyricism greatly influenced this one particular line I wrote in Agila, "Tulog na higanteng wala sa sarili, sa oras na ika'y bumangon, mas malaki ka na sa mga takot mo..." That's the idea I suppose, to pass it on, to inspire, without sounding too preachy, just let the music speak for itself and take its own course, and the man himself has been doing this in a span of almost 4 decades and counting.

in my opinion, Rico Blanco has the most calming voice among all people who post their videos on KZread. ;D

Grabe! Rico Blanco is really gifted. Hindi "aral" sa formal piano pero marunong. (Self taught??). Pero ang galing pa rin. 👏👏👏 parang promil kid. Nanourish ang gift. Lupit!

214 is one of those song where at first you imagine yourself a bad-ass keyboardist whipping out some unforgettable riff then followed by wanting to be a bassist providing that wonderful bass undertones and then wishing to be a guitarist who after being subtle most of the song come out screaming like its angry or something then the drums march us with the song and of course the Vocals deliver the final touch.. Its a wonderful journey. None of the same will be ever heard of again.

Sir Rico, hindi ka lang isang magaling musikero kundi isa ka ring magaling na guro. Napakalinaw ng tutorial mo dito. Hindi ako magaling magkeyboards pero natutunan ko tong 214 dahil dito sa vid mo. THANK YOU!

I learned keyboard when I was in 2nd yr HS for a month I think then just kept practicing by myself. I stopped because my dad is so cheap even though he worked in PAL and my mom worked as a nurse in US. Lol if you’re a parent pls support your kids and let them do what they want in life.

Super paborito ko po ang Rivermaya noon , elementary days ko pa non at pinapanood at hinahangaan ko ang mga gitarista sa amin pag tumutugtog ng Rivermaya songs lalo na ang 214 na syang pangarap ko ding matutonan noon. Hanggang ngayon tinugtugtog ko sya nong natuto na akong mag gitara last 2006. The LEGENDARY song 214 ay isa sa pinakapaborito kong kanta sa buong buhay ko.
