You need to check rules for applicants outside of Italy or EU.

I appreciate you putting this together for me. This really makes it extremely difficult and confusing and annoying. Why would they make it so difficult for English-speaking users? Don’t they want people to follow the rules?

Thank you for your comment. Well, regarding the rules of drones, there is a EU level guidance, I remember. You can also refer to that one. The rule in Italy is a local version. Try google translate if you have any difficulty during the process(maybe one day everything will have a ENG version). Good luck.

Hi there, thank you for your comment. I chose TIM for the SPID two or three years ago, because I tried Postale, there are many problems. But in general you can choose any company because there is not much difference if you only use it in Italy(Maybe slight difference regarding fees now). There are different levels regarding security for different SPID offered by various companies, or some of them may provide wider range of service like in EU(You may check their comparison table).

So even if I have a drone certificate issued in my home country Sweden, I still need an Italian license?

  • @stevenontheroad6129

Hi, I think you can use your license in Sweden since Sweden is a member state of the EASA. However I recommend to call the Italian agency to understand if there are any particular requirements. And, it is better to check if your insurance covers the operations in Italy.

APR -> Serial number / frame number of the drone. It is normally located in the battery compartment of the drone. In some drones, DJI is also found in one of the four arms. If it is not found, also check if it is printed on the box.

Thank you for your comment. There is no other option as I checked on the official website last time. But as I checked the European union aviation safety agency, www.easa.europa.eu/, EU citizens's registration in their countries(member states) could allow them to fly the drone in EU following the same rule(also the specific local rule). If you are not EU citizens or do not have residence, better inquire the aviation agency before you fly in the place.

@@jasino9041 I found this, unfortunately only in Italian. It requires the drone operator certificate in the foreign country and an ID to be sent to ENAC(Italian National Agency for Civil Aviation), to register the pilot/operator and the drone. Then, three things need to be checked: 1. registration in D Flight and obtaining a QR code; 2. Make sure documents are updated(I think you see the confirmation option on D flight; 3. Make sure the operator is aware of the requirements of doing the indented flight operations(I think this refers to also some declaration on D flight website when you register). www.enac.gov.it/sites/default/files/allegati/2020-Ott/Informazioni_per_piloti_APR_stranieri.pdf. This is for NON CRITICAL(hobby) situation. If you intend to do CRITICAL operations, there are more requirements. Good luck.
