Turning The SCREWACKY Bowl! - Wood Turning
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
I mostly turn natural pieces, always trying to use what nature has provided and showcasing the defects, etc. This is more of a conventional winged-bowl but I was able to leave some of the history of the wood while still creating an interesting shape.
Or, is it? You decide! Elm, finished in Feed & Wax.

Hey Phil, A majority of your viewers love you for just this sort of natural attitude towards a piece of wood. I know I keep coming back for it. Like you said at the beginning, you could go to the store to buy a porcelain bowl if you wanted to have a perfectly symmetrical piece. Keep up the great work/fun Pal!

What's crazy to me is the fact that we as wood turners seem to get a little bit of criticism for creating something that nobody else could ever see to begin with. That to me is where the artists mind begins to go where the art needs to be. Happy turning my friend 😊

Hey Phil! I believe the slightly off center bowl to the wing portion adds a nice dimension of the bowl. I didn’t thing so when you saw that the wings would not be even, but it adds a feature that adds to the appeal to the bowl. Nice, as usual!

Really nice work Phil. I'm always amazed by the finish you are able to achieve. I think the shape suits the piece. The other profile I like for winged bowls is a gentle downward curve. It seems to soften the otherwise sharp edges of a flat rectangle.

Absolutely perfect the finish is so silky looking and I always do love how you think outside the box and don make boring bowls! Also I am not a fan at all of beads but it is just so fitting on this it helps define the shape and I think it goes well with with the straight edges, I don’t think a curve would have been as fitting!
