Turning The SCREWACKY Bowl! - Wood Turning

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

I mostly turn natural pieces, always trying to use what nature has provided and showcasing the defects, etc. This is more of a conventional winged-bowl but I was able to leave some of the history of the wood while still creating an interesting shape.
Or, is it? You decide! Elm, finished in Feed & Wax.

It's been a few weeks since I added a comment. I have been busy and have watched every video. Don't change the way that you think a piece of wood should be. I made a bowl for our neighbor from part of a tree that was cut down in her yard. I left the live edge and bark inclusions and she loved it. I owe that to you. Thanks so much for your video's.

Wonderful story, Alan! I love that you could make your neighbor lady happy with a piece of her tree including the bark she may have touched while it was still standing! 😊

Hi Phil What a lovely piece of work. I was one of those who thought everything had to be concentric until I started watching you. Your right that we need the finished work to be interesting and full of character. My wife still thinks that I have made a mistake even if there is a knot in my work 🤣🤣. Keep on doing what your doing, we all love it. Regards Mike

Actually I Loved you comment and outlook in leaving slight imperfections in you projects. I never sell any of my wood workings, but I give a ton of them away. With each piece, the recipient gets a note on how to care for it and my personal message that I Never strive to make my wood project perfect, because the only time wood is perfect is when it is on a tree as God made it. Thank you Phil, John
