Also fun fact, they feature non glossy & slick handles in order to ensure a good grip when the hands are wet from water, sweat, or blood (it is a combat knife after all). Lastly, the preferred blade pattern is long and slender so as to facilitate easier piercing (aka stabbing) . Complex blade shapes tend to clog into bone and organ tissue and get stuck when entering an organic body (although they make more extensive wounds). Also straight shapes help the human brain instinctively manipulate a blade when knife fighting.
Gorgeous Ka-knaf!!!! Wow!! Simple and beautiful!!!
Such fine craftsmanship well done ✴✴

super bon travail............ chapeau...
Love these videos. They've got me back into smithing. I don't do videos but I'm working now on using a 150 year of Scythe blade to make a custom sword I call Reaper. One note.... your heat treat may give you problems. It gets red hot and that's good, but unstoked coal with no fed O2 won't give the heat needed to truly harden the steel... also quenching in water is a shock to the blade. Oil is best for the slow quench. I'm pretty sure I've seen you use oil in previous video so maybe there's a reason for the water I don't know here. Regardless.... great video and amazing work!
