What happened was that the heat from the resin burned the shellac that holds the staples together.

Ben, really not sure if you will read this but here goes…. Wondered if you have seen the legendary movie Kingpin? If you have, I definitely feel like you have the skills and tools to make Ernie McCracken’s (played by Bill Murray) bowling ball. The clear ball with the rose inside it. It’s such an iconic thing!…I think if you’ve seen the movie you’ll know exactly what I mean. Anyway, it’s just an idea, all the best and keep up the good work!
You're kind of like the Bob Ross of resin projects- cheery, wholesome, and calming. Love this piece, and I always appreciate the creativity and your acceptance of 'happy little accidents'. Wishing you the best!

I agree he is the Bob Ross of resin.
I wasn't expecting that reaction on the pot cam! I'm completely stunned how it turned tho, and in the end they looks like curved lines. 10/10 as always❤

I was absolutely certain the staples would change in some way during the curing process, but I'll admit I didn't expect that sort of result. It's probably one of my favorite pieces you did, to be honest!

Dude honestly, the burnt/burnished look makes it even better looking! Almost like it’s weathered metal trapped in a shiny sphere. I loved it’s end result 🤘
The change in colour during potcam was really cool to watch. It is almost as if the heat tempered the staples, or something. Another great piece, Ben!
Ben you always come up with creative ideas. And turn them to wonderful arts.

Another amazing project, Ben! Reminds me of a dystopian building or something. Really interesting to see how the staples reacted. Keep going, Ben! I love your videos!
that staple ball is probably one of the most beautiful resin arts you have made, and it is now one of my favorite projects you have done!
Love it, it’s like an M C Escher engraving come to life. Getting the coppery tones made it better imo.
You gotta make more of these and put them up for sale in the store;; it looks super cool! I bet you could even use other rectangular c-channels (maybe made from bent metal mesh perhaps??) and make a whole array of this cubist effect.. (is it cubist?? maybe I'm trying to be more fancy than I"m built-for).
The rusty/copper look of the staples is amazing.
Love your creativity with such mundane objects like staples. I once filled an entire sheet of paper with staples when I was a kid at work with my mom. That's about the extent of my staple creativity.

The final effect was brilliant
There is no wrong in art. Amazing job Ben.
The patina on the stapples looks awesome. Great job!👏👏👏
Very cool project. I personally instantly liked how the staples turned a different color from the heat/chemical reaction of the resin. The end result was beyond expectations. Keep coming up with great ideas & experimenting. 💕
This is exactly the video I needed after a long day’s work but start to the weekend. Cheers Ben!

No worries mate 😊
Nice one Ben. I agree, i think it looks much better with discoloured staples.
Looks like the 4 dimension ”library” from the movie Interstellar🤩
i love him i love him so much his silly little accent his happy tone he makes me feel happy like when i hear him i see the color yellow he is such a pure soul i love him so much never let anything happen to him pls pls i love him
This would also make an awesome gear shift knob!!! Awesome job, Ben!!! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻❤️❤️❤️
Love the music. It gives off John Butler Trio vibes, One of my favorite bands! ✌️😎👍
Love it! The staples probably darkened because there is a thin layer of plastic that keeps them together, and it probably burned due to the resin heat.
That’s super cool! You should make another specifically for sale!

Was NOT expecting the discoloration. Btw, still you you have the best background music ❤
I definitely didn't expect the discoloration on the staples. Kinda gives me a low budget 80s sci-fi movie villain lair vibe.
The heat reaction from the staples reminds me of the Chem lab I did about a week ago! We turned pennies silver and then put a couple of them in a flame to turn them a beautiful gold colour!!! Best lb ever!
We used to make staple cubes in school. They never looked that cool!!
That looks cool! Looks like some old forgotten building you'd see on the science channel.
I just want to say I appreciate the small ending evolutions like the reverse of the glue pour and the slow mo on the lathe work. Love the work and I enjoy seeing the growth in other areas
Amazing the forces that happen when the resin cures.
Wow, that end result is very pretty Reminds me of an hypercube!
Wow! I have to sayyyyyyy that thing is gorgeous! I’m so glad it turned out that way!

Very Brutalist! This looks like something that could have been a prop from the first Blade Runner movie 👌
this is really cool. just saw someone create a cube the other day and thought "hey that would look cool in resin". 👍👍👍
That turned out amazing! I love color that the staples turned after the resin cured. Keep up the great work!

That finished piece looked amazing
That looks amazing. I'd love to see you make a dice out of wood and resin then turn that into one of those illusion sphere.
Hi Ben love your work would love to see you do some experiments with some watches/clocks or magnifying glass or maybe both.
You should do These ball illusions as a staple in your Shop. They are so satisfying to Look at!
You should do this with one of those dichroic tesseract infinity cube box lamps! Maybe there's a way to have LEDs inside and charge them with a wireless charger so you don't have any cables or battery compartment! 😮
Well I didn't expect that. You threw me off with the stapler picture. Pretty cool. I Iike how the staples changed color. Good one Ben ❤❤❤

Thanks Connie, I thought I’d mix it up this week 😊
Suggestion for next time. A light coat of resin over the cube (staples) to help stop them from breaking, and possibly from discolouring. The lighter bronze colour on pot-cam was a little nicer but I think silver would standout more. What if painted the staples before construction with bright colours like the Rubik cube? I absolutely love this channel and watching your experiments. The music, presentation is outstanding. Keep up the great work Ben.
crazy, the idea never dies
The discolouration look like it’s from the glue that holds the staples together melting in the heat. It also ran down the structure and made the interface between the starting level of cured resin and the new curing resin more obvious.
It was pretty neat watching it discolor. It looks pretty cool.
Looks like the interstellar movie when he’s looking through the bookcase in the other dimension!! Looks awesome Ben!

wow that turned out to be really cool, the cube in the sphere is very nice.
Vacuum chamber is back?! I MISSED VAC CHAMBER! (I love the orange on it so much)
What a gorgeous piece! I agree the "flaws" are what really elevate it! Looks almost post-apocalyptic yet still so clean at the same time. My favorite piece was your rubik's cube ball but this just surpassed it! Beautiful!!
Another amazing piece of art again Ben! The reaction to the staining and chipping of the staples after the pressure pot, was exactly the same. Watching it happen on pot cam I was like oh nooo. And when u pulled it out and we see it is ALL that orangey color, I was like uh oh. But u were right. Upon closer inspection it looked pretty legit. If u ever do it again I might suggest trying to seal it some how. Maybe dip it in resin and hang it out to dry? Idk if that’s a thing. I’d love to have a lathe tho. I would make some crazy things. Mainly for wood working, but yeah. Rambled on too much again. Thanks if u made it this far haha

this is so cool! i have a BUNCH of spent staples from my job that i've been saving ... and now i think i need to find someone who works with resin near me ....
staples have a waterproof coating to stop them from rusting from the water vapor in the air, so that must be what discolored from the heat. i really like the way it came out though - i especially like the way each staple is a slightly different color from the one next to it, and like you said, it looks like a patina/rust, so it looks like some ancient artifact or something. very cool.

Totally awesome!! It looks like brass beams inside.

Thanks Lynn 😊
That's nice Ben! I love the color change.😜👍
The distorted reality effect works even better here than on the rubik's cube. I'm really surprised that air could be trapped in there - I would not have thought that the glue holding together the staples would hold it back. I wonder if there's any way to force it out so there's no shatter in the center? It probably would have helped with a few of the segments breaking too, though that may be unavoidable once the glue heats up. Maybe paint the staples with a clear coat first?
That Staple Cube is a really old thing, my father showed me this once, glad to see it back and it's a verry nice idea to make it like the rubik's cube! 🎉
this is my favorite project you’ve done aside from the rubik’s ball. it’s awesome. congrats on great work
Have you ever seen the channeling 'lead' used for large stained glass pieces? They come in brass and zinc as well as lead, but some of them have cross sections like a U shape or a tiny I beam (i, not L) shape. You could make some cool 3D geometric shapes with small lengths of those, then make a sphere....
Man I would love to see more optical issusi9n projects, I was really on the fence with this but the final product is mind blowing!!!

its amazing! it looks like the centre of the blackhole from Interstellar! Like the 4d tesseract they designed it to be! it's like you have it in the palm of your hand.
There is also a flower made with staples, I forgot which Chanel it's on... I love watching you always are fun not just business and make such beautiful things
This looks absolutely incredible!!!
I love the ideas you come up with for projects
It looks AWESOME BEN!!!!!!
