    I got great results by making mould slightly deeper and filling it with some acetone before putting goo inside, then let it settle down in closed container. Eliminates literally all voids from surface of cast, because acetone rises on top (and in fact if you have goo in tall jar bottom can harden despite having acetone on top)

    Oh! I wonder! I scored a whole bunch of those railway-hobby rock moulds that I usually use plaster of paris in. I can't see any reason they wouldn't work with sprue goo, and I'd love to reuse more of my sprues -- time to experiment!

    This looks like a great technique to make walls. Create two slim halves that look like bricks, then glue them together and voilà! Large wall sections for building ruins/castles/etc.

    This is great because it's the kind of thing you just keep on the back burner and slow-bake a tile or three a day until you can cover a table, or you run out of sprue. 2-3 months of this and id imagine you can have a nice pile of tile

    For texturing the foam, you 'd get a better result by damaging it manually with a rock, one by one. Takes longer, but you have control.

    great vid mate! Is there a way to make the spru-goo thinner or more liquid? It doesn't look like a ratio of spru to acetone thing but could make it a bit easier to work with?

  • @MiniatureHobbyist

    Just recently I had finally gotten my hands on the Gasland's skid dice and was about to settle for a game...When I was hit with a gyrocopter problem. Gyros can fly up to 10k feet in the air, but still can crash into terrian, that means in 32mm scale a 104 YARD (rounded down) piece of vertical terrian piecce would have to be placed on the field. Any Gooey ideas?

    I wonder if sprue goo will work with an injection molder or if it's better to melt the plastic with heat like the Crafsman does.

  • @MiniatureHobbyist

    @MiniatureHobbyist

    Жыл бұрын

    maybe but when the acetone evaporates it does leave air pockets, if you heat sprues they tend to burn more than melt =P

    @@MiniatureHobbyist Maybe a low level heat to melt them? Crafsman grinds them up first too. But yeah,we need to think on better ways to recycle sprues. Still,if you can get the sprue goo into one mold,why not an injection molder? I wonder if anyone with an injection molder would be interested in risking their equipment to try it out....
