Cold weather has been the best turkey hunting here in BlueRidge Mountains! They gobble like insane. Warmer it gets the quieter they get.

You just described a major difference between thinking like a turkey and thinking like a hunter. A turkey killer thinks like a turkey.

I've heard some of the best gobbling birds on mornings when the wind is blowing and snow is flying. Good stuff Matt. As always.

I appreciate all your videos so much Ive started back archery hunting turkey again and I've used all your tips and been going here in western KY in some cold rainy swampy days I've had the gobbling or working every day during bad weather more so than good weather. I always sit them out and make them speak first once I hear that gobble I move how I need and soft call.

I've seen turkeys strutting in rain like a cow pissing on a flat rock. I've heard toms hammering when there's hard frost in the winter and spring.

Turkeys don't mind the cold at all! It's all in our minds, killed a bunch of birds on some seriously cold mornings here in TN

Gobblers don't get cold like we do. The gobbling is caused by the time of year. Their annual breeding clock strikes the same time every year. As far as the daily weather, yes, it affects their gobbling but it does not stop their breeding. Just like a whitetail buck.

Higher temps are worse in early spring. Barometric pressure and wind speed have more to do with roost gobbling. Cold, crisp mornings with little to no clouds in the sky and winds under 6 mph are ideal down here in the south. Love the videos. 👍🏻👍🏻

Couldn’t have said it better myself. I love a cool crispy morning over a super warm humid morning. I’ve heard people get super pumped about a 70 degree morning saying how great it would be, yet you don’t even hear the crows. I’m with you. Cool and crispy are my favorites

The most gobbling I ever heard was a morning with 6" of fresh snow and temp in the 20's. Another time, I could see the frost forming on my gun and the Toms just wouldn't shut up. That was one cold morning in the woods and plenty of turkey action.

I've heard my best gobbling on cold, clear mornings, as opposed to warm mornings.

The way I see it here in the northwest (Washington State) if you are out there you have at least a 50 50 chance of filling your tag, if you are setting in camp or home, you have a 100 % chance of nothing. It is not uncommon to be hunting in snow in mid-April around here and I have had birds gobbling when there is 6 inches of snow on the ground and the snow is still coming down.

I’ll never forget opening morning in southwest West Virginia 2018. 20 mph winds and 37 degrees, not ideal conditions but guess what? The turkeys were gobbling their heads off and I ended up killing a nice Tom. You gotta be in the woods to kill ‘em!

our turkey season doesn't start until April here in N.C. but I've been setting up my hen decoy and yelping with my box call and haven't herd a gobbler yet but i was using my binoculars and spotted a hen about 30 yards away and she wouldn't make a noise or move just stood like a statue , what happened ? Did she see me or was my yelping scaring her ?
