4 phases of SPRING TURKEY SEASON

Every Turkey Hunter will go though at least two if not all 4 of these particular phases
of the Turkey Season. The dates I have selected does depend alot on what region
your hunting, so your dates could differ a little, However the cycle is pretty much
the same.. Now this isn't a locked in stone stradegy, I'm just going
on historical data and many years of hunting turkeys in different states
every spring. But this will give you a general ideal of what's going on
every spring, from the start to the finish.

My father told me you have to sit more than hunt. You have to think like a turkey, you have to kno what a turkey likes, you have to personally know your turkey. Etc etc. Basically you have to hunt them similar to deer. Pattern is key to turkey hunting scout scout.

Good advice. I've gotten 3 gobblers in May in Maryland. Each was on public land, each was 3+ years old, each was gotten early in the morning shortly after flydown, and each came right in to my calls. They were each very eager to breed, but there were few if any available hens because they were probably sitting on nests full time. There were no other hunters to compete with either.

The only thing you missed is gobbling changes with more two year olds around. We have a mass of two year olds this year. We usually average 20-24 lb birds. This year they’re much smaller. But the action is pretty dang consistent. Our whole season has been like phase one. Gobbles all the time. We usually have a huge lull. I go a week or two without a gobble and then they light up end season. Right now they’re gobbling just like opening day. Loving it!

Turkey season doesn't start till April 15th in my area. They are all locked into private fields surrounded by property. Cant get anywhere near where they hang out to even call one. The turkeys are clinging to the low lands and not going into the mountains as there is guaranteed food on the fields. Mountains are full of snow, sleet, ice, rain. Gobbles o dark 30 and then zip

Im pretty new to turkey hunting and this is my first season by myself, I have never got one. I've saw 2 turkeys in phase three. But I spooked them. I was 1.5 miles back on public land and I was packing up and I wanted to check over the drop because I was hunting the top part of a hill and I peaked over the edge and saw one start running away and saw them an hour later behind me 200+ yards headed into the swamp area. When I spooked them, they weren't even 30 yards from me. They were in my blind spot. This Minnesota spring whether sucks. Every weekend I get that I can go turkey hunting is raining and cold

Keep at it, study ALL Dale's vids, and be patient while you learn! You'll get one, and soon enough you'll be hooked and needing to check yourself into turkey rehab. Serious, Dale is THE GOAT. I constantly take his advice to the field, and 31 spring birds later, I can say many of those kills are because of him. I know i sound like a commercial and all, but its true. He helps beginners and vets alike have more success. Period. Honestly I just tune out most other sources of advice anymore.

@@daleoutdoors17 I'm in Shelby county. Where I hunt, the Turkey hunting isn't all that great but it works for me. I've been turkey hunting for 2 or 3 years now and havent killed a brid yet. Have seen a bunch during deer season tho. They are just really hard to hunt around here. Here's my email and we can talk more there if your interested. JerrysOutdoors@gmail.com The reason for the email address titled like that is I've been trying to start my work hunting KZread channel just havent had the time to get started. Thanks, Jerry

Hey Matt I know you’ve hunted Missouri like me. As you know, our season starts April 20, so does that put us at phase 3 from the start? Or are we on a different time table then what you’ve mentioned? Thanks for another video!

I’d Say Missouri mostly opens in phase 3 but due to weather and early to late spring it could be phase 2 towards the end of 2 Like i said a lot of this depends on where your at
