    I’m wanting to do a small turbo and do a torque oriented build. I’m pretty sure it’s possible because there’s upgrades you can do to a TBI. I’m thinking vortec heads and a decent intake and turn the fuel regulator up and swap a better fuel pump and there ya go. What gave me this idea was horsepower TV and that big block ford build. I also like the TBI’s because they just work. I personally know no one that’s had issues with them besides the lack of power.

    Oh bud lol the timing shud be in negative numbers below 1000 rpm. Around 0 only after u give it gas. I build those quiet often. I raise the rpm to 1000 then set my. Timing at 8btdc. Without jumping any wires to lock the timing. That varies with ignition modules. Some are set closer to 0. But sbc is what I rebuild the most, and own one with tbi, by negative I meant btdc range. Positive would be after tdc

    @@pops3554you must have aftermarket heads or had the machine shop work over the stock vortec heads. They flow good, but unless you get some machining done to the valve guides to clear a cam higher than .450 lift you’re not gonna make 400hp. I have a vortec 350 swapped into my truck, it makes ~320hp with stock heads, bored tbi, bigger injectors, vortec fuel pump, a high rise dual plane intake, a summit 8800 roller cam (204/214 at 050 with 450/450 lift), and 2.5” dual with an x pipe. With boost and a 3 bar MAP it can see up closer into the high 400s.

  • @1985hond125

    @1985hond125

    2 жыл бұрын

    MonsterEatsMeCookies- The resistor is in line with the coolant temp sensor circuit (wired in series). On factory TBI's there's 2 different temp sensors, one for the gauge (driver side head) and one for the ECU (intake manifold by T-stat). Otherwise the rising rate fuel pressure regulator (rrfpr) takes care for most of the fueling (aftermarket regulator plumbed into the fuel return line). To bypass factory regulator simply remove the spring from the built in tbi regulator. It's been surprisingly reliable. Thanks for the comment.

    My good man, mind telling me what the model number on that fuel pressure regulator is? Was going to do this on my '94 stepside with a blow-thru carb, didn't know the tbi could handle it with an fpr. I'm not in it for max power anyway, just some grunt and choo-choo noises lol. I've already got a Vortec pump so this will be perfect for it.
