"Tunneling" through Table Mountain - Slangolie Ravine(#16)
Episode 16
Very few people are aware that Table Mountain has 2 tunnels right through it. These both have carried water for the city for many years, in fact Apostle's Tunnel is still in operation.
Come and adventure with Monty and I as we explore 700 hundred meters of Woodhead Tunnel in a very dangerous Slangolie Ravine.

Always boet!!! Zig-zag for the next one....!
This was great to watch... my stomach right up in my throat at parts. I also thought I could make out the body of a person sleeping, like Monty commented, because the white rocks on top of the pipe looked like a person's feet/shoes/

I took a number of school groups up Orange Kloof with a TMP guide.... we have some great photos of the headstone marking the entrance ( which you called the exit!) of the Woodhead Tunnel .. watching you two crazy guys really brought back those wonderful memories with my kids and colleagues!

School groups are always such fun! To see the wonderment on kids faces as they explore makes a hike even more memorable. I hope you are still hiking! Thank you for watching.

Thank you for watching and commenting. So Monty is currently in the planning process for a Trail guide business and will therefore do "tailor made" hiking and adventures. Maybe leave a contact of some sort and Monty is sure to get back to you.
I can't see how close the stairs are?
@intotheout365

The stairs were actually carved and placed, making them evenly spaced - unlike other areas on the mountain where random boulders were placed in a "stair like" fashion.
Both of u are nuts

Well done but do look up Tartaria and Red Bricks and mud floods and meltology.. These caves are much older than 1450.

Thank you for watching. Will do some research on these caves.
So why is Cape Town local people paying so much for water what is the government up too
@intotheout365

So, I can't really speak to the "paying" part (I do have an opinion though) But as for the Woodhead tunnel, the water that used to flow through that pipe from Woodhead dam now flows through the Apostle's tunnel and is still in use today.
For our non Afrikaans speakers: Slangolie = Snake oil.
